i dont really trust the dealer on this one. once they make the pro grille with the camera mount, should be an easy swap. just like when tss came out.

Ha! One of the things I’m keeping. Love the front end.

When I asked a couple local dealers they said one couldn’t even be ordered with a registered PRO vin. Something to the effect that Toyota is upset people are making fake pros and selling them to unknowing people. Like the deal with importers selling LCs with locker buttons for lockers they didn’t have.

FOLLOWING..... But I also think this will be available soon. If the 2020 Pro has the camera in the grille, and the 2020 Off-Road has the camera in the grille, then how could it not just be plug-n-play???

I agree, I feel like the answer was incorrect, especially since dealers never want customers to do the Pro grill swap and would rather have you buy the actual pro instead. Wait a few months, one of the more hands on guys will probably have a solution for this in no time once they get their hands on the 2020 model.

for real - unless you need very different lengths of wiring for them...

...but $1400 worth of parts?! Not likely.

I would think the camera might be the only hang up. Likely someone will make an extension pig tail for it though. I wonder if the cameras are the same since the pro camera is lower thus might have a different angle. Perhaps that is mitigated through how it mounts to the grille.

Nothing a quick blast from a heat-gun couldn’t fix; angling the plastic it mounts to 1° downward - lol (maybe?)

Hey - as a technicality, one would have to recalibrate the camera, anyways, with any lift or levelling, change in tire size, change in suspension, etc...

Yeah those are pretty valid points. Maybe adding a washer between one of the mount screws would do the trick.

So from my conversation with a local Toyota parts guy they will sell me the 2020 OEM Grille and TSS Garnish without a VIN. He said mounting the front camera is no issue as they've already done it.

Now my problem with this is they want $600 for the TRD Pro Grille and $300 for the TSS Garnish (Canadian dollars)... while also suggesting they do the install so it does not void any warranty.

I think that’s what you call a win win. Not to mention they’ll do the work and you keep your warranty.

This is true but the price is a bit steep.

But still; 1K for a grille... 3x the eventual aftermarket price just to keep the warranty...

The price of peace of mind. I’d say it’s worth it... How bad do you want it?

I guess depending on the dealer and how rude they want to be, cost to troubleshoot and fix problems associated with a home install could be well over the $1k.

The issue is the location of the camera, it’s calibrated for that specific height/location. Lift the truck, and it will be a none issue, move the camera and your panoramic view gets skewed.

The camera ecu part number is also different for the pro and offroad so It’s safe to say that it processes the images differently due to camera placement.

I will be trying an SR5 grille swap instead. It’s pretty much cheap to buy, TSS ready and I can modify it to have the same location as the camera.

Thanks for all the nuggets of info here. I did a considerable amount of research and decided to just go for it. I have a 2020 TRD OR and swapped to a Pro grille. My biggest concern was the front camera. The Pro grille I purchased was a 2019 with garnish. No front camera hole like the 2020 TRD Pro grille has. I relocated it to the top position just like the new Pro anyway. Took a small Dremel and cut the middle to house the camera without the trim piece. Rather than removing the entire piece, I left it for integrity. (zips are temporary btw) All works fine. The 360 camera view inside on the screen does render the live image a bit different. The seamless frame blending is just a little off but completely fine IMHO. Added the raptor lights (4) and mounted them evenly in-line with the camera center. I'll run it for awhile and report back should anything tweak out. I dig it though!

Can we a pic of the 360 render with the camera relocated?
