I hear you. Some busy stations have one gas jock because they are too cheap to hire two. Then you wait.... when they finally get to your vehicle and I ask for plus, nine times out of ten they hit the regular button. Then I yell PLUS. Then they hit the plus button and leave. When it's done....you wait for them to get back. Sometimes I take the nozzle out, hang it up and hit the receipt button if I'm waiting too effin long. It's not rocket science. They have a real meltdown when you do that. I've got no problem pumping my own and do it on vacations out of state all the time. The only problem I have is sometimes I zone out waiting for a gas jock until I remember there isn't one coming.

^This - slow workers drive me crazy ^

I used to fly twice a month to Newark New Jersey for work. When it was time to fly out I'd have to leave extra early so the slow walking gas station attendants would have time to fill the rental car's tank. I do suppose the one advantage is not having to leave the car, because if the US has an anus it has to be Newark.

Having someone pump your gas over 25 is not an uncommon thing

Drove through Oregon a few times. First time it was very odd.
Just recently went back and my first stop in OR i totally forgot. It was a little annoying for some reason, but after a week long trip I got back to california and the first fill up I already missed it. It was like damn I gotta get out of here and pump my own gas. Only "issue" was that on Thanks Giving I had to try a couple stations to find one with a worker. Also, at one spot the guy didn't know what 87 was... I said please fill it with 87. Whats 87???? I'm like the button right there. Hes like what!? You want regular supreme or ?? (whatever chevron says). I'm like REGULAR! I cant believe he didnt know what 87 was. He finally realized when he hit the button.
Other than that, it was pretty chill just sitting there and having someone else do it. Especially when its cold as hell and having to deal with the damn pump.

This was an older guy too... 40's 50's and didn't know what 87 was. I'm still confused.

I grew up in NJ but now live in California.

I will say while having someone else pump your gas is annoying and slow, it is the BEST thing in the middle of winter, and in some cases its faster than having some soccer mom trying to pump gas while her keeping her kids in check.

Being that California has no real cold months I see no reason to have someone pump my gas, although at over $3.50 a gallon not only should someone pump my gas, but deliver it to my house as well.

While the signs say vehicle engine must be turned off while refueling it is not uncommon to see it being done in Mn. during the winter. 30 below zero is not uncommon with wind chill cold enough to freeze your eyes in the sockets.

Of course the pumps here still have the locking tabs still on them, seems like most States require you to squeeze the handle to dispense fuel because the locking tabs have been removed.

How in the hell is a man supposed to start the day hunting without a meal of scrapple? Or breakfast while camping?

Have been to all 50 States and will put Pa. food up at the top with the best of them.

At one time there was no self service gas stations we have come full circle. Growing up I pumped gas at my Grandfathers Texaco, it was .25 a gallon. And was expected to check the oil and clean the windshield while the tank was filling. Pay was tips and those nickle and dimes added up fast. Everything was quite a bit cheaper then too though LOL.

I encountered a Hess station in Bethlehem, PA (I think it was a Hess) that had the locking tabs removed; Only such place I’ve encountered!

this would be impressive because your typical diesel nozzle wont fit inside a gas filler neck.

now putting gas inside a diesel, that is much more common....

Haven’t rode into Oregon yet. Shit, I usually just sit on the bike and fill it up. Bike ya to be off and the side stand down though in order to open the gas cap.

That is very interesting. Hard to believe in our society but I suppose someone had a good reason at some point.

I think that not allowing people to pump their own gas promotes dependency and laziness...

If you don’t now how to put gas in your car, you should lose your human license and be put down. I was in Oregon recently and put my own gas, guy came running and tried to stop me, I said I was from Texas and back the fuck up, finished putting gas and left. Bunch of idiots.
