It’s just not worth it anymore to me. My marine squad member was murdered by his neighbor in a road rage incident

Newark has to be my second least favorite airport to fly through. Its clean and nice, but damn are they short tempered there. (Least favorite is Luanda Angola. Its not bad once you figure out how to avoid the interrogation rooms though.)

One time at a rest stop in Newark, Delaware, a girl in her late teens or early twenties walked up to my dad's Honda Pilot and asked for "a couple bucks for gas". Me and my mom were in the Pilot with him and I believe we were driving home visiting family in Virginia. It was at night, but this wasn't a particularly shitty area. I can't help but wonder if they would have passed up my dad's Pilot if it wasn't a fully loaded Touring model...

While on vacation a year or so, we stopped at Burger King so I could use the bathroom. Some random guy approached my dad and asked for money, and started playing with his hand; My dad was too weirded out to do anything, and we got out of there ASAP.

I hate to say it, but I bet most gas attendants(if that’s there only job) fall below the poverty level which would mean more than likely they pay no taxes.

If any person other older than 21 or younger than 70 asked me how to pump gas I would assume they were the most stupid person on the face of earth and when I saw (prior to this thread) an out of state plate I’d potentially presume others from that state were so afflicted.

I don't give a shit what their socioeconomic status is...

I just don't need people doing things for me that I am more than capable of doing myself!

Exactly, many people are one incident from going unhinged, definitely not worth it. Sorry to hear about the loss of your squad member.

That’s not what was saying, I’m glad they’re working. It was in reply to them paying taxes like that’s the fix. If that job pays minimum wage, like I said they are more than likely not paying any tax at the end of the day, so you can’t you the excuse they pay taxes as the argument for passing a law to not let you pump your own gas.

They might not pay taxes but I can bet that they put every penny they make into the local economy.

There so many jobs out there today, it may not be the job you want, maybe you have to work two. But those not working and that are capable just don’t want to.

On Christmas Eve last year, some guy in an Infiniti cut me off while I was making an Uber Eats delivery. I played him a tune on the horn and slammed on the brakes, and the Uber order went flying. Luckily, it didn't spill in the truck, but I was still pissed off. A few minutes after the initial horn blast, I beeped at him again as I drove past him and thought nothing else of it. He got behind me and chased me for a mile or so flipping me off, then he roared past me and cut me off. When I tried to pass him, he'd block me. I was going left at the next intersection, and he got into the far left lane as well when he saw me signal, and then he slammed on his brakes. I almost hopped the median and attempted to drive around him in the opposing lane, but thought better of this. He opened his door and got out of the car. Not wanting to make contact with him, I waited for an opening in the next lane, got over, and ended up running a red light to get away from him.

All because I beeped at him for cutting me off!

I myself can’t trust myself in a confrontation, so I try to avoid it all cost. I know what I am capable of doing to a person. I just don’t want to end up in prison or even worst dead if that individual has a gun. I always talk them up and try to deescalate the situation right away.
