Weak. How far north you are is not indicative of winter weather. UK is as far north as Russia and Canada. So they have bragging rights for winter driving expertise ? Hardly.

No, the fact that the world record snowfall of 95' being set just east of me should have established that

This has been one of our drier winters though, historically a "dry" winter is about 300" of snow for the season.

I’m not going to compare the mountains in Maine to Yosemite etc. But, the terrain is some of the roughest in the United States
Just because you put your taco in 4 wd with an inch of snow, doesn’t mean you have to.

    LOL
Is your drive way 2 miles long ? We live in the woods and don’t see pavement for two miles. The terrain is steep enough that that I can’t drive to my shore line on the lake in one direction and the hill top in the other during the summer, without a 4 wd, tractor or my side by side. It’s normal to see black bear, moose and white tail just outside the door. Flatlanders ? That’s what we call you people with paved drive ways. Lol

You travel to a gated community just to off road ? I can’t even get my Taco out till my Kubota clears a path.

How many 15% grades do you have to deal with and how long? I've got one nearly a mile long to get through my neighborhood to my house and it's got curves and stop signs. They also don't plow the neighborhoods, and our streets aren't even the steepest. There are quite a few in town over 20%. When I get to the main road, I've got another 15% down into town, but it's a straight shot, though the traffic light at the foot of the hill keeps things interesting and it's *usually* plowed. I too have seen black bear and white tail deer from my front yard. We also get bobcats, coyotes and mountain lions. Unfortunately no moose around here. The real problem that we have when it snows is that it often will rain a little during the day to get things nice and wet, then it freezes overnight until it thaws again in the afternoon only to freeze again the next night. It's also why we have so many avalanche deaths and why they frequently will just close a highway (SR20) rather than try to keep it clear.

For all our bickering though, you've gotta admit, we both handle snow better than those folks in NC:
