19 TRD PRO LIFT AND TIRE/WHEEL QUESTION

Hey all I'm new to the forums..been lurking for a while and searched previously on this topic but I wanted some updated information that could possibly out there..

I know everyone is already thinking I shot myself in the foot for buying a Pro when I could've bought an OR and upgraded the suspension/tires for much less. Truth is, I was gonna get an OR 2020 and upgrade but the end of year deal on 19 PRO was too sweet for me to pass up on (40k + taxes - in my area PROs are usually marked $10k above MSRP) so I pulled the trigger last minute.

Anyway, I'm seeking advice/opinions from fellow PRO owners who swapped their stock setup on the exact suspension(I been hearing about Kings but don't know exactly what part number) I should buy and recommended wheels/tires. Do's and donts.. alignment tips/what to be aware of after the lift..etc.

Money isn't an issue..I plan to sell the stock Fox suspension and tires anyway.

I want the truck to sit higher (maybe 2.5-3 inch lift with more aggressive looking AT tires). Its my daily driver and I don't plan on going to Moab or anything. Maybe light off roading if anything. In it for the cool factor..any advice is appreciated!

 

I'm kind of in the same boat. Bought a 2020 Pro about a month ago. I really want to get better/bigger tires and wheels. I keep reading that you really cant easily lift the Pro Suspension, you have to get a whole new setup

Sounds like either fake news or a marketing pitch from a vendor to me. But I'd love to see a factual read of 'why', then gladly apologize for my doubt.

And you can run full 33" with no lift at all if you chose the correct wheels and tires. Couple of mega threads around here on that.

I concur. Don’t mess with the factory Fox suspension just for the “cool” factor.

idk about cheap lol, but selling it to you could be possible. I'm also in San Jose. My Tacoma barely has 1,000 miles on it. When I do swap the suspension I'll be messaging you if you're serious!

If you are just doing it for the cool factor, I’d say leave the suspension alone and throw on a set of 255/85R16’s. Here are pictures of my 2018 Pro and my 2020 Pro I just traded the 2018 in on. Both running the same set of Cooper ST Maxx on stock suspension.

 

I have a 2020 TRD Pro. I'm changing tires, but definitely not messing with suspension. I thought about getting the 1" Shim and AAL setup from 88 Rotors, but i'm worried it will change the ride, which from the factory is GREAT.

 

Very nice..did adding the new tires give you more height?

I also made a mistake of adding nerf bar steps so it's making my PRO appear shorter too..either I return them (which would be a hassle bc I threw away the box it came in) or just lift the truck (which is what I wanted to do anyway)

 

The stock tires are 31’s if I remember correctly and these are 33’s. So technically you’re picking up about 2 inches in ride height.

 

i have a 2017 Pro at 58k miles. my Foxes are dead, useless, i'm basically riding on springs right now. the Foxes need a rebuild almost critically.

BUT i wasn't totally happy with them. they haven't done a stellar job at handling my demands, but pretty good. so now that they need to be removed and rebuilt i have a chance to try something new and improve it all instead of going round & round dissatisfied.

this was a consideration, and i speculate that's due to the internal bypass on the TRD Pro Foxes, which helps on the street while allowing big controlled movement offroad. so if i was upgrading to Kings i'd want to try their bypass shocks and maybe they will indeed ride better than the Foxes around town and stuff while doing their thing everywhere else.

So 3.0 IBP's... will report back, we will see. going in Thursday:

 

What tires are you going with? I've seen 88 Rotors videos on YouTube and a couple of PRO's they lifted. Wish I lived in SoCal. I also wouldn't know what ride quality is good vs. bad because this is my first truck ever.

 

2" in dia = 1" in ride ht.

 

The tire calculator will show you the variables for whatever size tire you pick

Just be aware, my understanding is, if you change the ride height of your truck, you may need to recalibrate your speedometer as well as the ADAS as the sensor settings are based on the stock parts of the truck. Worth looking into before you begin. Perhaps someone on the forum can confirm or dispute this.

 

Did you get a quote on rebuilding the OEM Fox shocks?
