I looked into the max rpm of the stock mini cooper supercharger and its approximately 14k so assuming the stock redline of 5500rpm and if I overdrive the blower 2:1 I'm only at 1100rpm at redline. With an assumed efficiency of 70% on the engine and maybe 75-80% on the blower I'm looking at 6.5-9.5 psi of boost. Maybe the dream isn't dead.

I think I'll have to look at how easily I can slap this thing on to do a quick pressure test. If I slap the rrfpr on I can keep it rich and cheap to test things.

Has bad idea written all over but screw it.... see what I did there

LCE just made a valve kit for our engines...

I'm going that route, along with their header. That is, when I can drop $1k and have the time for it. Likely try and find a head, build it with the valve kit, then just swap. The header is an easy install

@Loxsl when you pulled the motor and put it back in did you leave the transmission or pulll it with it on? I’m thinking of leaving it attached and hooking everything up outside the truck then dropping back in all buttoned up

I’d NEVER contemplate swapping a V8 over the 2TR the 2TR is an extremely reliable motor. Mines got 285k runs great and only thing I’ve had to do is change the spark plugs

Do their headers fit 2012-2015? Site says 2005-2011. I wouldn't think there would be much difference in clearance from one 2.0Gen to 2.5Gen.

Wow nice thread bro i may be breaking in late. But got a problem with my 2tr. I got it to a machine shop to rebuild it. Since i got it back they just rebuild it but i had to put it inside the truck. So i kept hearing a loud banging noise on the inside of it first tought they messed something up internally so i called them under warranty. I had to pull the engine out again and deliver to them. It heard like some sort of metal banging on the upper part.

They gave it back to me and i reinstalled again on the car and sounds kept going no difference about it. After that they sent a mechanic to my place to see the engine running. Then they took the truck back to their place. After a day the car would initially start the sound just in the morning and for a minute and then it would stop. Kept it like that until it started bleeding out oil from everywhere so i had to stop using it.

I started by chsnging the front plate cover that was cracked due to them using a different size bolt and my guess they just use a impact on the bolts. So now i replaced all that the car was sitting for about 2 weeks. And after everything was reassemble as soon as i started it up the knocking was there on the top part. But now it will not go away.

I pulled the valve cover on top of it and realized some of the lifters would stay down all the time i changed the oil and added a valvemedic noise lifters special and somehow the sound got better but will not go away. If i rev it it would go away but at idle it would come back.

I reopened the engine after ordering the lifters just to realize now none of them are moving and they are up. I still have a video of them when they move so i know wich ones where stuck down. Now what else besides thst you think it could be creating the problem? I bought the vvti ratchet but at the machine shop they did not install it said it wasnt neccesary.

Any help would be deeply appreciate it. I dont want to be pulling this engine out again a third time. Hopefully i can get this fix just at the top. I got the timing cover off already and will be taking the chain off to check on the lifters again.

Sounds similar but my lifters collapsed and never came back up. Makes me wonder if you’re having an oil pressure issue.. definitely check the ocv filter/screen. It’s located on the driver side near the front of the motor - i believe right below where the ocv is

Also do you have any videos of the noise while it’s running? When my lifters collapsed, the engine sounded like a diesel at idle.
