My god can you imagine that one dude getting all amped that his time has finally come only to be told by the casting director “Aren’t you a little fat for a stormtrooper?”

I get a kick in some of these 501st
discussions talking about gear and costume accuracy only to see that person obviously way off in the “normal” stormtrooper BMI standard . Went to a Comic-Con once (501st in attendance) and let’s just say... well I’ll leave it at that.

Do you think the 70's concept of Star Wars is holding back the visuals of the newer versions?
Like, if the idea of Star Wars was to be conceived now.... how different would it look with our updated knowledge of the worlds tech and with current VFX capabilities? What about if it was R rated or had an NR rating and could show graphic blaster damage.
I just wonder what it could look like if it wasn't limited. No rating so not having to worry about trying to appeal to ALL audiences. An endless budget and time frame. A much more futuristic future without all the old looking tech being used to pay some homage. IDK

I think that’s what the appeal is to these anti super hero movies like Deadpool and joker have, childhood characters but acting like how they should in the the world and not being nice and politically correct.

We need a Tarantino directed spin-off movie on the Hutt Cartels.

Tarantino is all about retro, he would make Star Wars look even more older and dated.

You’d get the gritty, gore filled, crime world of Star Wars while still being pretty true to the way Star Wars has always been made. Star Wars just wouldn’t look right of it was redone all shiny and flashy like the Star Trek reboots.

That's my point. They can't even push the limit because we already have a nostalgic opinion of how it should look. Can you imagine if The Dark Knight was in retro tights?

I was about 10 when the original Star Wars came out. At the time the visuals were mind blowing. The story was great with the trilogy as well as the Raiders of the Lost Arc trilogy.

Lucas himself later monkeyed with the original movies and tarnished them with his ability to upgrade things he did not like. (Luke shot first).

Yes, you can do far more with CGI today but it loses something in the process. It's not as genuine.

The same could be said for The Terminator trilogy.

    Get off my lawn.

It just seems that the whole series is stuck in a 5,000 BBY timeline of it's own creation. It's just the same battles over and over. A movie set in The Old Republic looks exactly the same as one during The First Order. I enjoyed the original trilogy without all the back story. Just as a movie.

    Like, so many.
The Mandalorian has reignited my love for Star Wars. I've been so disheartened by the new trilogy and I'm not being dramatic when I say I felt betrayed lol. I'm still not going to see the new one right away, but SW isn't dead to me any more.

IMO Dave Filoni gets Star Wars more than just about anyone save George. I'm hoping the success of the Mandalorian allows both him and Jon Favreau to have bigger roles in the franchise going forward. If you've never given the Clone Wars cartoon a chance, it has some of the best Star Wars stories out there once it stretches is wings past all the dumb kid oriented stuff.

I've just started the Clone Wars series now that I have Disney+ albeit I have only watched the movie so far, but I will make my way through and also watch Rebels. I mainly was interested due to the twist at the end of Solo and wanted to learn more about how all that transpires...
