Okay, duly noted - will keep the storage pocket panel in mind!

That wouldn't be too difficult, I think - I'll add it to the list!

I know some may not like the fact that I built one similar to vagabond. But it’s a proven design and I would of bought one from the get go. Just was not able to wait 10, 11 or etc months. I tried to buy 2 drifters but the deal just didn’t work out. Used one from anomalyTRD but never got a call since a deal might have gone to another member. Another one from a person that lost their job so they needed to sale since a 3k mile road trip to pick up the completed drifter would not help the situation. Wasn’t okay with handing someone $10k+ without receiving the camper at the same time of transaction.

Then I started seeking out making my own to cut down on having to wait so long and try to be able to camp by thanksgiving. Thanksgiving camping didn’t happen with all the weather condition happening here in SoCal so I am shooting for Christmas.

Since I am building it, I added a couple of my own wants in the design. Rear door with screen to cut down on dust/bugs, direct bolt to truck frame rail to avoid clamps, built in bed stiffeners since I have total chaos/less dust intrusion, keep the rear tailgate for backup camera/tiny patio.seat, integrated mounting for insulation in the soft shell and tern overland window options at a later date. I can make a regular rear camper shell door that opens up if needed later easily since I have the cad design by keeping it modular.

It wasn’t easy to say the least. Had to draft the design, deal with a shop to cut and bend, sourcing materials and hardware, buy a new welder and learn to weld aluminum (only done steel and with mig). Just glad that it seem to work out nicely thus far in roughly 6 week time.

This is what I accomplish so far.

Will continue sewing the bottom tent keder and windows after work throughout the week

Are you planning on ditching the tailgate when all said and done?

Got a visit from Santa Goose today(camp kitchen and bed plate, already got the Cook Partner stove waiting to go in also). Will probably mount them over Christmas break with my Drifter scheduled for January.

Is this a recent update from VB for a January pickup date? I ordered a ~3 weeks after you mid March so I am trying to judge when mine would be ready.

I ordered Jan 15. I have it on good authority that I will be able to install before New Year! Crossing fingers, fueling the Taco in prep.

If it helps, I ordered mine the first week of January. I've been told it should be done by the end of the year, but as others have said, I'm sure it depends more on what extras you are adding, powdercoat, windows, other parts that need to be ordered etc...

fairly recent but being a little more specific, it's really late January and possibly even early February.

    So wait times aren’t 10 months, they’re 12.

right now it looks that way. I'm sure the guys are always trying to be more efficient in the build process but there are a lot of variables with a custom built item. My guess is that the complexity of what some folks have customized and asked VB to install is pushing times out. If there's batches that don't have many options to install, I would think that times would drop accordingly.

Agreed completely. Little bummed though as I hoped to be able to pick it up in June-ish (I ordered in August).

Oh well though, just means I get more time to save up :D

I hear ya. I was hoping to be able to make the drive during my Christmas shutdown at work but oh well. Just going to use the time to finalize interior ideas

You and me both. I'm a month ahead of you. Hopefully I can hurry and get it ready for a couple fall camping trips.

I’m 2 weeks shy of ten months and no word. Trying my best to be patient but I really wanna get it and head to the SW. I’m convinced it will be well worth the wait.
