209 TACOS - B/S and shenanigans

Ours are 202.
I believe the early 2nd gen black is 209.

 

Trenton's is a 2013. I'll have him check the door sticker.

 

Tiffany's 2013 and my 2015 are both 202.

202 started in 2011


I know this because I wanted to buy a color matched 2011 honeycomb grill and it can't be bought with factory paint in the 209 color

 

I also just bought a pop-n-lock, color-matched with 202 for the mall crawler.

Lol... Got love it when your wife gets totally excited about getting a smoker for her B-day.

 

Hhhnnnngggggggg. Fuck yes. I've used the cheap-o version and the results were quite tasty. I've use gas and charcoal smokers and prefer the gas version in the winter. Longest Thanksgiving ever was when we were first married and tried to smoke a turkey on a Brinkman in Arcata. I started the bird around 7 am and I think we ended up eating around midnight.
We need to introduce her to sous vide cooking. SV + a bit o smoke = .

Lol... I'd like to do one soon. But probably after the Holidays (realistically)

 

I've done tritips both ways and prefer cooking to 129* for a couple of hours then coldish smoke (275*) for 30 min or so. It's not as good as a fully smoke tritip, but you can still get medium rare meat. My favorite and most requested tritips are cooked to 132* for 3-4 hours and then a quick sear on a kettle grill. I fill up the grate with hardwood lump charcoal and sear directly on the coals. 45 sec. per side and it comes out crispy on the outside and perfect med. rare inside. Damn, now I'm hungry.

 

Well... Trenton got his camper shell. He met up with @scollins last night, and picked it up.

Scott seems like a cool dude. I'm hoping to go up and visit Trenton this year and run some (or all) of the BDR... maybe he can run some of it with us.
