Well here’s another lame build thread. I do get questions about the truck and maybe this will clear those up.

Purchased the truck on August 24 2018

So far the mods/ upgrades are:

    bilstein 6112s
    Icon 2-3” extended shocks
    Kenda Klever 35 10.50 17
    Mb 351 wheels
    Soflobumpers snorkel
Body armor pro series rear bumper
    Remmen brakes up front
    Arb rear air locker
    Rago fab ditch light brackets
    Ditch lights
    Light bar behind bumper
    Marlin crawler tacobox
    Tail gate lettering inserts
    Glove box inserts
    Debadged
    Mbrp skid plate- ehhh
    Cut exhaust at axle
    Oem roof rack
Cmc w/ Bay Area metal fab plates
    Pinchweld “bent” over no notches
    Led interior lighting
    Avid off-road weld on sliders

Well as you can see I care about the finer things in life

    started with this-
    FD9A4597-9214-46E0-AB2F-93D6BAE6D85E.jpg

    went to a 2 1/2-2” spacer lift

    5502401F-0ACE-4610-BD14-4C33F395D6DE.jpg

then went full potato with 35s and tacobox

    451CC56A-7169-4649-9688-CA5ED9863ED0.jpg

Now I spend the time making YouTube videos, due to my son being very passionate about Tacomas, jeeps, etc. loves off-roading. I think he watches our videos everyday.

I have 3 kiddos, one being a newborn. So it’s a wild life but wouldn’t change it. I take my oldest and middle out as much as I can.

If you would like to see anything, I have done quite a few videos on the truck and put them on YouTube- TacomaDad is my channel. If you don’t watch videos, just ask, I’ll tell ya. I know it’s not the most special or coolest thing out there but man is it fun.

I HAVE to ask. As it just does not make sense to me. At all.

You spent all the money to put a ARB air locker in. Not to mention the cost of everything else you have done so far. . . Why not just buy a TRD Pro out of the gate?!?!?

When I went to buy the truck, I compared models and already had a plan to build the truck my way anyway. Biggest reason is you have to be in 4lo to use the e-locker which is a huge downfall to me. I also couldn’t justify the 7-8k difference from my sr5 to even an off-road, especially when I was going to mod it anyway.

Also, it didn’t hurt that my truck was marked down due to year end

Got a few hours of wheeling in yesterday at a local park. Ended up being nothing but getting stuck, luckily I was able to get unstuck without use of another vehicle or winch. Had fun, but a little bummed, some of these I’ve made it up with 265 70s lol. Just couldn’t seem to find that “line”

Also ended up with a nice shiner above the passenger taillight. Dang spotters!

Here’s the video if you have 15+ minutes. This is the truth of wheeling, I typically only show the parts where I didn’t get stuck, this video is all the lines the truck just couldn’t get up on its own. Definitely in need of a front locker. Could have also aired down more as this was only 20psi.

90152FFB-DEE1-40C0-8820-0067EAD5E0FB.jpg Oof discovered this while cleaning the truck after the off-road trip.

Slap a bandaid on it and call it a day? Or fix it..

If it doesn't bother leave it and if does then fix it. Either way your truck looks good

Just going to shamelessly plug the YouTube channel in right here.

There could be some helpful videos in there for some, I know I had fun on the off-road trips I recorded. Plus who doesn’t like to see a Tacoma drive by itself??

If link doesn’t work, TacomaDad is my channel name.

    A little maintenance day tomorrow,

sanding and painting my rear bumper (scratched up like crazy)
    Install some Ch4x4 light switches
    Sand and paint sliders again
Clean the heck out of the inside
Do a cmc on my buddies rig

Also, planning on ordering a coastal off-road diy front bumper. Have a idea to make the “stinger” a little more aggressive looking.

Pretty cool build, I dig the taco box. Not often you see that mod.

How hard was the air locker install? Any videos on it?

Thanks! That’s what I set out for, was to be different than all the other Tacomas I was seeing.

No video on that unfortunately. That was before the YouTube stuff and I did have a shop install it. Would have been a good video, it was a nightmare. I’ll most likely install the front locker and 5.29 gears my self. So that will be a video for sure
