What a dumpster fire of a thread.

I applaud the OP for doing what he did. I 100% understand moving from one vehicle to another because of the toxic culture around a certain brand and model of vehicle. Part of he ownership experience is the culture and that is VERY different from brand to brand and model to model. In my humble opinion, a lot of you all are not showing much love. Your mama's ever tell you if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?

OP, Keep it up man. Love the build so far. Just purchased a 2020 Cement OR Premium myself.

You can always place a custom order with your local Ford dealer. Keep in mind that $55k is for a base model 2020 SuperCab Raptor. Here is a link to the factory window sticker on a base model that I found for sale locally (requires Adobe to open, it’s a PDF)...

Great looking dogs you got there brother! The day my little guy chewed he had been in the truck for a few hours. He had our older lab in there with him but I wasn’t able to let him out as much as I normally can. I try to bring them to work a lot but unfortunately that sometimes equates to them hanging in the truck for a few hours at a time. He definitely could have been bored or having a little bit of anxiety. That’s the only time he’s chewed anything in the truck and I’d like it to be the last. Haha

Thanks! The dealerships here were up charging the crap out of the raptors for quite a while and still are I think. They tried to get me to pay 15k on top of the MSRP when I bought my raptor. Ended up paying $500 under msrp but had to haggle a lot. Way over priced!

A local dealer is blowing out 2019’s Raptors at $2500 below MSRP. The Raptor bubble deflated earlier this year in my neck of the woods. My guess is that it’s partly due to the redesigned 2021 F150 that debuts next year.

That plus I was talking to talking to a Raptor owner friend and he went from a 2017 Tacoma to the Raptor and Now he is getting rid of the Raptor for a Tacoma again because of so many issue that are Heat related in the Engine bay of the Raptor with less than 30K miles on it he has been stranded twice in bad locations once in area called the "Dunes" in Utah and second time in the Unitas area of Utah (I went and picked him up then) but both times it was a failure that resulted in Tow back to Dealer. I will say the truck is nice looking but with those issues he will no longer go over landing with it due to lack of trust in it.

It’s about time, I couldn’t fathom paying those crazy dealer mark-ups. Seems as though there’s raptors everywhere these days so I guess maybe they’ve also caught up with demand a bit?

If I bought a Raptor, no way I’d take it off-road. It be to the mall or the gym only, no way I’d risk a break-down out in the wilderness.

    It should be re-named Craptor!

    Good move OP

Man we looked around for quite a while to find a breeder that didn’t dock but I couldn’t find anything. At least not remotely close to us. Great looking dog!

Yes! I hope sometime after the holidays. We have a 6k mile trip coming up so the main focus is dialing in the current set up and hitting the road next week. Also need to buy a damn ring here soon. But there WILL BE more taco mods!

Thanks, Didn’t think people would be so offended by me switching trucks. I’ve always wanted to build a Tacoma and now seemed like the best time. Plus it gets me away from the mall crawler crowd. Oh well, the majority of the comments in here have been great! Wouldn’t change a thing. Can’t wait to see where you take your build!

Well the raptor never struggles for power or hunts for gears. It’s one of the most comfortable vehicles I’ve ever owned although it is very floaty and has lots of nose dive in the corners. The Tacoma has a more planted feel to me. Seems like more of a truck rather than a 4x4 sports car, if that makes sense. I did like the 10 speed transmission but I think on a vehicle that wasn’t pushing 450 stock horsepower it might be a bit much. The raptor has a ton of torque and downshifts happen quick. As we all know the Tacoma hunts gears a bit. Overall the raptor is great fun but the Tacoma makes more sense as a daily driver that you can utilize as a truck. Makes more sense to me anyway. Clearly some folks disagree with me.
