Won't Tacoma trd pro rims fit 285's on stock suspension?

I have 285/75/16s on my 2.7 5 spd. I have a 1 inch lift in the front. It rubs mostly in reverse, unless I get suspension articulation, then it'll rub a lot. I am running wheels with crazy offset though. I ran stock gears for about 2 years. It's slow as fuck, say goodbye to 5th gear. You'll be in 4th on the highway and will downshift to 3rd to accelerate. 4.88 gears are mandatory. Wtih 4.88s you're still slow as fuck, but the engine wont be killing it self trying to turn those tires on the road. It also puts the rpm in a good range in 5th gear so that you can maintain speed and accelerate slowly when you need to.

I bought my 4 banger and raced out the door the next morning to Bro it up. Stopped by the local Les Schuab Tire Center. Before I know it I'm headed down the road on 18" Moto Metal wheels that weigh more than John Candy the day after Christmas. Toyo Mud tires that weigh more than I can even say. Cheap ass spacer lift. Needle bearing vibrating all over the damn place. Thing road like you were sitting on a wooden roller coaster.

I had not quite discovered this site.

Definitely not something you should do with out thinking about exactly what it is you want to use the truck for. There are things you can do to mitigate some of the things I listed. Get the lightest wheel you can, replace the needle bearing and select your tires carefully.

Post us up a picture of your beast. Maybe go 35's?

If you are just rolling around town to get groceries and mall crawling the ReadyLift will be just fine.

You will get flamed for running that here on this site.

I had it for a while on a different truck and really enjoyed what it did for me. Gave me the look I wanted. Pretty much rode like shit though.

Gears were invented on a mustang forum, when the 4V n.a. cobras came out ;)

Mine has 285/75/17, 34’s, stock UCA’s, 2” suspension, 1” body lift and a little plastic trimming. I have not rubbed since my last plastic trim. (I have not been off-road since the 34’s were put on)

I had 33’s, it would downshift to 3rd sometimes on the overpasses and scream at 5300 rpm’s. Now with the 34’s when it drops to 3rd on the freeway overpass, it’s only 4500 rpm’s. I do live in the flatlands of TX.

Power wise, it only seems slower on high speed freeway traffic. I had it at 95 on a recent road trip through Mexico.

Ha! I still have my 01 cobra I bought new. 4.30 gears and an Eaton make it fun on the street.

I had an 03 cobra, one of my favorites. Vehicles usually last me about a year, I told myself the Tacoma was here to stay, lol.

Yeah like 15 to 20 pounds heavier than stock, but who is counting. Either way it would suck.
