New to site. the problem started a week ago. I have other posts but they dont quite seem the same. So I never have used my e break. My light is on but there is a little play in my my handle. As I drive down the road the rear driver's side tire seems to be catching. 1st gear seems to be fine, but if I'm going up hill or if my Rpms drop I get like a jerking / Catching feeling making the truck feel like it's going lock upfrom the back driver side tire. But In Rpms that are higher I don't seem to get the catching. It especially happens when I go into a new gear where the rooms go low.. I pulled the breaks off both sides of the back and the seemed fine. I cleaned them. But still am getting same catching. Is this a ebreak problem I missed? Or is it axel warp? I'm stuck. Sure there are threads on here but am new to tacoworld and can't seem to find what the exact problem could be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since you never use your parking brake do you keep the rear brakes adjusted manually as needed?

At anytime are you smelling the sweet smell of hot brake??

How did the wheel bearing feel when you pulled things apart ??

No abnormal wear on the right brake shoes or lots of brake dust??

What leads you to feel it is the right side??

Auto or manual trans ?? No parking brake use must be Auto

CV axles in good shape ??

All the u joints in good shape ??

Check the front calipers if one is hanging up

Sometimes things like this can be really hard to figure out just where they are coming from.

Honestly, it sounds more like the engine is stuttering or missing under load rather then a rear brake catching. If it was dragging it would be considerable warmer then the side not dragging and is usually quite noticeable plus the dragging brake side is a PITA to remove the drum on most of the time.

First drive the truck around for 4 or 5 miles, maybe some on the freeways. Then get out and feel, with your hand, each rear rim near their centers. If the rim is too hot to touch, a dragging brake is indicated.

Drive home and back off the brake shoe adjustment(s) on whichever brake, left or right, was hot. Back the adjustment wheel off until you cannot hear the brakes touch the drum.

Finally, take it for a test drive. I'll bet your rear brake problem is solved. At least that one is. When you are satisfied that the brakes no longer touch the drum when the e-brake is released, adjust them until you can just barely hear the shoes rubbing against the drum.

I was going to mention this.
I just fixed what turned out to be a misfire under load, that felt like what you are describing.
Feel free to message me and I can give you a run down what I did to fix it.

When the springs that hold the rear shoes get weak they allow the parking brake to over adjust and eventually you are driving around with the brakes on all the time. There is only one fix and that is to replace the brake hardware. I tried the inexpensive way a few times with aftermarket parts and imho, the only way to truly fix it is to use Factory Toyota brake hardware.
