Comparing V6 engines and need help.

I am new to this site. I am researching some different years of Tacomas. I want a v6 4by4 TRD package. I can't afford new, so I am looking at an 05 or an 04. My question is how different are the engines. The 4.0 has more power, and it looks to have better gas milage. That combo usually doesn't happen in real world driving. What are your experiences with either years of truck? I read a post on 4.0 gas milage and it seems to be around 20mpg. What are the 3.4? Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers, S.

 

Don't know about MPG with the '04 V6, but I get about 20MPG on average with mostly city driving.

The 4.0 is a beast.

 

i have had experiences with both. i had an 06 with the 4.0, and it was great. plenty of power, and economy was nice. and with the 04 i have now........power isnt as good, but the truck is smaller and a bit lighter, and the 3.4 v6 can rev like hell. im happy with it. with the deckplate mod and my dynomax super turbo muffler, im right at about 19mpg.
