Tacoma: A restyling and re-engineering of the small pickup is expected for the 2012 model year. The platform is linked with Prado, 4Runner and Hi-Lux in the rest of the world, with frames built in different widths for different markets.

Much of the styling seen in the 2010 4Runner will carry over to the Tacoma. A plan that the Tacoma would share Tundra component sets has been scratched because the beefier Tundra parts would cost too much on a compact-pickup budget. Expect model variants to decline on the new model.

Given the chunkier styling of the 4Runner, I expect the Tacoma will be rebadged as the Burrito. Ah...did I say "chunkier"? I meant "beefier". A beef Burrito. Chicken for the women.

good luck with that fugliness, that's what 4Runner styling is
sticking out headlights/tail lights, americanized interior with huge door handles/shifter, steering wheel like an F150, no thanks...
they messed up the 4Runner and so they will with the Tacoma.

only good thing is double vvti will finally make it in, they better hah

Didn't say anything about the motor, but I guess they'll change it too.

That answers the questions about the tacoma hybrid. There won't be one (yet).

Looks like the A-bat Prius pick up.....

Meh...I tend to agree with Eurosport. The 4Runner is fookin ugly. Looks like the Ridgeline now!!! All boxy and square. Fookin fugly.

    I agree!

I'm hoping they have some nice upgrades to the mechanicals for improved MPG. I'm assuming they'll drop in the updated 4.0 with dual VVT-i. I'm just really hoping they also pair it with a 6sp auto.

The new twin turbo V6 Ford is putting in the F150 sounds from the reviews like it kicks very serious butt......would be nice.....

Or a diesel maybe...? But we couldn't afford it. I would more than likely drop for a V8 if it came

Glad I bought my 2010. I can't believe the FT-86 is going to be $25-30k. I really thought it was going to be cheaper. They'd make a killing with a RWD toyota coupe starting at Miata prices. Heck, the RWD Hyundai Genesis starts in the low $20ks.

If the new one comes in part way through 2012, it'll be a 2013 model year truck. That gives the 2nd gen an 8 model year run from 2005 to 2012.

So does a change in frame dimensions dictate a generational change in conceptual thought ,or is it percieved upon one's conceptual perception upon first glance ??

What the fuck did I just say ???:eek::D
