It’s a darn good looking 1st gen pickup.

I will be building a tube bed and low key exo-cage on whatever I end up getting to build. Would almost hate to do it on that one

I’m thinking Toyota axles and 37s. They seem to handle it well enough And it’ll be cheaper

biggest issue with toyota axles are the birfs, but if you're riding with other tacoma's you'll never over exert that weakness anyways.

That seems to have gone full swing recently. People that have been running birfield eliminations are going back to a stronger version of the birfield (longfield) that is stronger than the elimination kits.

So going Friday to pick up the FJ T case and Possibly the Front Carrier with CV axels fo an out the door price of $400. Transfer case has 90k and diff has 50k. That is incredible prices lol. My total for this conversion just went way down. All units have been tested and are fully functional btw.

Longfield can be pricey, That is what I went with when I rebuilt the axles I had in my Samurai's 1st set of axles.

No Kidding. I was like i cant believe it. I called them up to ask what was wrong and they said all parts were tested and got a grade of A quality. I said i will gladly drive up to TN for those lol. Just Knocked about $650 bucks off the budget.

Yes Sir thats why I went with them.
If or when I break the Toyota birfields, longfield will be what goes back in them. Not sure that I ever will break them in the Samurai. The Toyota mini truck front axle is about trice the size of the Samurai and The fj60 in the rear is almost three times the size of the Samurai.
