You only need armor if you’re planning on goin in the ditch. Both copper creek and stampede pass are just forest service roads, not trails in the slightest

I got my CB in the mail yesterday, but likely won't have it installed by Sunday. FRS it is!

Has anyone gone up this side path on stampede before? It's a bit steeper than it looks and I think there's some mud at the top.

You can put me down for the Jeanne Hanson Park meet-up. @triptheninja will be joining us, but I think he’ll be my copilot for the day depending on how frisky he’s feeling that morning.

    So many tacos!

For those running baofengs, what channels do you normally use? I have one but don't have my license yet, figure if I'm not pinging towers I'm probably ok.

we should run one of the FRS/GMRS channel frequencies from the link I posted above so we can talk to people with Motorola's or whatever they have. Boafeng on those frequencies are operating as an FRS radio so should be ok to use. In my tests I just used channel 1 but easy to change to any of the others. I printed out that page to bring with me.

I've never done stampede but it looks to be like 50 miles according to google maps. I wonder how long that will take with snow....maybe 4-5hrs?

Should we just pick a channel now so we're ready at meet up?

How about channel 7 on your walkie talkies? 462.7125 on the Baofengs.

If your FRS has the small number(privacy code/sub code/interference eliminator code) next to the big channel number you need to set the privacy code to 0 for it to work with the Bao's. In my tests anyways. There might be a way to set the Bao's for privacy codes but I don't know how yet.

Sounds good! Yeah if I am to understand correctly, CTCSS (adds a low frequency tone to the transmitted signal) or DCS (transmits a digital bitstream with the audio) are either incompatible or too much of a pain.
