LS400 is definitely needing some love. Fuel filter and plugs ought to be the next thing

Ended up going by the local parts dept. this morning...bought 4 new ones for $30 bucks. Not exactly cheap but oh well, I went to Home Depot and a local hardware store and both had a pathetic selection of grade 8 bolts. I would've figured Home Depot to have a good selection but there's was literally 3 small shelves of grade 8 in an entire aisle full of nuts/bolts.

I miss our local Orchard Hardware Supply that was right down the street...they had a huge selection of automotive nuts, bolts and other fasteners. Lowes owns them and shut that store down, so that they could put in a Lowes Appliance Warehouse in there...it's a giant store full of dishwashers and laundry machines now. Sucks.

Thanks! It's a tiny bit askew...sits about 1/4" higher on my driver side. I need to loosen the bolts and try to straighten it again.

It was a shitshow getting it on. First, getting my front bumper off was easy but the side bumper supports have to come off too, and the one on the passenger side is a royal pain. 2 of the 3 10mm nuts holding it on are practically covered by the factory air box in the engine bay. Had to stack multiple extensions on a 10mm socket to finally get to one of them.

After that the hard part was lining it up by myself. My floor jack wouldn't lift it high enough so I was trying to balance the bumper on a couple pieces of wood on the floor jack, not fun. Then when I had it lined up and went to slide it over the frame rail ends, I discovered that my 04 apparently has the earlier model year frame rail ends because they had wings on them that blocked the bumper from sliding on. I had to cut them off with my grinder, no big deal really but it was super odd. The instructions say you only have to do that with up to 2000 year Tacomas.

After that was done I went to re-install the bolts I pulled out of the recovery hook to mount the lower part of the bumper, and didn't realize the threads on the bolts were half worn off. So one of them cross threads, took forever to get out, and the others I just threw away (ordered more this AM).
Bumper is currently on the truck using 6 out of 10 mounting bolts, it's on there well enough for the street but I won't be wheeling with it until it's completely bolted on.

So yeah, what started as something I intended to have knocked out in 2 hours became a 6 hour ordeal last night lol

Sucks you don't have an ACE hardware store; they have 2 aisles full of nuts and bolts, washers, etc.

Well I had been saying I was going to get a bumper "soon" for like 2 years now so I wouldn't say I got one in a timely manner...I just installed it in a timely manner.
