So if the truck is off does the garage buttons still work?

I forget to lock my truck sometimes & would like to remove the remote from my visor for this reason

Yes...that's how Toyota wires the Homelink mirrors in not only the Tacoma, but any vehicle that has a Homelink mirror, the buttons are operable at all times. Most carmakers wire the mirrors this way. Now...if you would want Homelink to be operable only when the ignition is on, we can supply an adapter harness that will send ignition power to both the mirror and to the Homelink buttons. Cost for this is $25, and this will also require you to drop the overhead console as you will then have some excess wiring that will need to be pulled up and out of sight (removing the console is easy - it's held in place with 4 clips and comes off easily with a trim tool).

Ok thanks for that info! I think this would make a great security feature. I live in a good neighborhood but that doesn't mean I haven't had problems in the past where I live. I will be getting back to you on that...

I keep all my vehicles in the garage and I'm happy to say I like the feature of them staying on when the vehicle is off. If I back my cars out I can still work the garage doors. My vehicles don't stay outside and if they are not being used they are in the garage. I have more than enough space in my garages that it isn't an issue. But is nice to know an adapter is available.

Also on another note, I can disable my garage doors so they can't be opened say if you need to leave your car outside.

Awesome. Not sure how my 2012 came with one but my 19 didn’t. Glad to see an easy fix

Usually not much of a wait time as we try to keep a decent stock on them. We sometimes also have the new ones in stock, but if not, our distributor is only 40 minutes away so we can either have them ship to us & we get our order usually the next day, or if I'm heading in that direction, I can pick up orders from the warehouse. I was away much of this weekend so I wasn't able to get to emails, but I just got back and am playing catch-up now!

Bob is legit! I have purchased three mirrors so far from him, nothing but great product and excellent customer service! I won't go anywhere else for a mirror and neither should you.

Ill be getting one as well once the truck is drivable. Need airbags and other expensive parts first. Then the mirror.

Airbags? Who needs airbags!?!?! Just put a piece of black tape over the airbag light and buy a mirror instead :p Sorry I couldn't resist! Ok...in terms of your other repairs, the mirror ranks pretty low...safety stuff is much more important than the cool stuff!

Got my mirror today, super quick turn around, I think it was Thursday or Friday I ordered it. Very impressed with Bob’s.

Hopefully a simple question. Any tricks to the first time training? I’ve got it mounted and it powers on when I turn the truck on, compass shows a “C”. I’ve held the two outer homelink buttons (buttons 1 and 3) for more than a minute and it never does anything. Hopefully it’s something simple I’m missing.

EDIT: after looking at some videos, I also noticed the homelink light doesn't light up at all on mine. My truck came with a auto dimming with compass mirror. I have three wires in my plug (that plugs in perfectly to the new mirror) a white, and brown, and a blue wire. Is this correct?

Thanks to Caleb's help, it has been determined that some 2020 Tacoma's no longer have power to the constant hot wire in the mirror plug (this is the wire on the bottom row of the connector). Even though the wiring is there, it's dead. This is actually not something new...Toyota pulled the same shenanigans with the Camry a few years back & put the wiring in place, only to find out the wire is dead. Caleb checked the ECU-B No. 3 fuse and it's there and it was not blown, so why the constant hot wire to the mirror is dead currently remains a mystery. I won't say that this applies to all 2020's, as we've sold a number of mirrors to 2020 Tacoma owners and this was the first time we've heard of it. So this may very well be something that affects late-built 2020 models & thereafter...not sure at this point.

So for anyone with a 2020 Tacoma who is wanting to purchase one of our Homelink mirrors, please check for constant power across the wire in the bottom row of the connector and the fourth wire from the left in the top row of the connector. If you get nothing showing up on the voltmeter, then that means your truck has the dead wire. In that case, we can supply you with an adapter harness (we will offer these at a discount for $20 when purchased with the mirror) that would plug inline between the existing mirror wiring and the Homelink mirror, sending ignition power to the mirror and to the Homelink buttons. In this case, Homelink will then only work with the ignition on.
