I'm a total novice on all of this so please feel free to make fun of me. I'm wanting to run 35x12.50 on my 2015 DCSB V6 auto but I'm worried about the loss of power on the hiway and offroading as well as the added stress on everything with the additional weight of the 35s. But they look so good! I've read a lot of the older post on the subject on TW but still have questions on what gear ratio is best. 4.88 seems to be popular.
I'm familiar with the fit - ment mods as far as cab chop and trimming. Currently running 33s, have 2.5 " of lift up front, running the heavy OME 886 coils and OME 9000 sport struts for additional armored bumper and winch weight. In the rear I have aprox 2.75 " lift with heavy duty OME Dakar leaf packs & OME 60091 shocks. Wishing I had gone with more lift and known more about the wheel travel aspect before I started the modifications. Unfortunately the dealership that was helping & installed my suspension modifications knew less than I did. All they seemed to offer was the block style lift/ leveling kits. I've read a lot of the older TW Post everyone seams to have a minimum of 3" and up of lift that are running 35s. Not sure whether it's over 2.5" or 3" of lift I've read you need to change the UCA to maintain the alignment? I have the rear e-locker and have read you have to add the front locker to change the gears up front. Is that correct?? Thanks everone.

Bringing this back to life. Did you end up re-gearing? If so what ratio are you running and how do you like it?

That'll get you back to stock RPM range.

Wouldn’t it be the opposite having needed more power to turn mud tires with them being maybe heavier?

What was your orig. gear ratio? It looks like your Taco, now, should be running 1839 rpm. @ 60 mph. If yours was a 5 spd. MT W/OD, it would be running 2101 @ 60 mph. Really confusing. I've been searching this stuff & still hard to figure. I have a 2013 reg. cab 4X4, from what I can find all, both Auto or MT, came with 4.10 gear ratio. An auto W/ OD, the trans hi gear ratio is 0.71, so at 60 mph. my Taco should be running 1799 rpm. If that same Taco, had the 5 spd. MT W/ OD, they have a trans hi gear ratio of 0.82, that Taco at 60 mph. will be running 2056 rpm., 257 more rpm. @ 60 mph. than the Taco W/ auto. If I re-gear my Taco W/ auto to a 4.56, it would then be running 2001 rpm. @ 60 mph., still 55 rpm. less than the 5 spd. MT with the 4.10. Heck, even if I change to 4.88 the 60 mph. rpm will go to 2141, At hwy spd., 60 mph., that's only 140 rpm. more than the Taco 5 spd. MT with the orig. 4.10, I feel my little weeeek 2.7 auto. could use the extra 140 rpm. Sorry, just venting I guess. Congrats. on your change you Jeenyus.

I’ve read so much I’m leaning more towards 88s for added weight...and maybe burnouts
    :bikewheelie:

Do you have armor installed or daily bed weight? Tool box etc?

With the 3.73, 35" tires, & an auto. trans., @ 60 mph 1504 rpm. I can hardly imagine how sluggish that must have been. The 4.56 moves that up to 1839. Probably enough for your 4.0 V6, but my little 2.7 needs more, I'm thinking the 4.88 that will take mine to 2140 @ 60 mph. Congrats Jeenyus, just hope I'm as lucky when I finally pull the trigger.

I remember using the calculator when I did my Toyota pickup, but I didnt listen.

4cyl, 5spd, 35's and I went 4.88s. I was scared to go higher but i should of went 5.29 when it calculated to do so.

And it was a daily, so I needed highway and low end

    Miss that little fucker
