I had forgotten I unwatched this thread while doing sober October. Picked up some barrel select buffalo trace and Henry McKenna locally today. I think they say the store owner “selects his barrel” the justify the $15-20 he charges over other normal prices in the area. Also a second bottle of Peanut Butter Skrewball since it’s delicious; like a dessert cordial.

Skrewball is dangerous.. I’m so glad it made it’s way to Mass. I think I’m going to have to make a whiskey milkshake with it

Also watching the steelers game only with Very Old Barton Bottled in Bond with a splash of Ale 8 ginger ale. Hope that fake punt doesn't come back to haunt them.

Ale 8 is made for bourbon and Barton is made for ginger ale. Don't let the low cost of Barton BiB fool you into passing on it.

I've only seen it for sale in KY but I only have a half dozen go to stores so it may be for sale everywhere. Good value at less than $15 for a 750ml bottle and tastes better with a splash of ginger ale rather than straight.

I just saw that, courtesy of El Google. And I thought that the $10,000 bottle that I saw at Glenturret was pricey. That was a bargain, and I just didn't realize it

Finally had a Mellow Corn siting. I've been on the wagon since I broke my leg because I'm a fall risk, but decided to check out total wine as we were out for errands. This is the first one I've actually seen in the wikd, so after hearing everyone on here talking it up I grabbed a bottle. Unfortunately it will be a few weeks before I'm steady enough on my feet before I'll start drinking again, but now I have this to look forward to trying.

The bearded dragon wanted to watch hockey last night. Unfortunately the Coyotes lost. But I did get to enjoy some Aberlour A'bunadh20191210_193413.jpg 20191210_165143.jpg while watching it.

I like this version of Compass Box. My dad has been staying here for a few days at a time to help out and he likes it as well. So much so that I had to replenish the bottle. He also likes my Nikka from the barrel!

While at TW they had a Compass Box Circle. I did a quick look on line and saw mediocre reviews, then noticed the price (+/- $130). Pass.

I don't think ivseen you post for some time - been busy at smoking comps?

There are a few new Compass Box products just recently released. There is a 3-part 'Myths & Legends' that has hit. I haven't picked any of them up, yet. We'll see if I get to it. The one tough thing with scotch is it gets expensive real quick and that is without paying the FOMO tax that a lot of bourbon has. I think I like the Artist's Blend best between the two Great Kings St. offerings, but they're both good. That Artist's Blend is a great suggestion for people wanting a good scotch under $50. It's also a good intro to breaking people from the flawed logic that a scotch must be a single malt to be any good.

No competitions lately, but I've been plenty busy! I haven't been cooking a ton - most of my BBQ related activities have been out at @Bigdaddy4760 's shop building my new smoker. I have a build thread of sorts for it here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ld-thread-under-the-tutelage-of-maner.624490/

We're having more fun than any two knuckleheads like us have any right to. You should follow it! Posts come in spurts, so it won't blow up your notifications.

I made a conscious effort to get the whiskey collection trimmed down a bit. I can't fit everything in the cabinet, including using the bottom shelf, so I worked on finishing some bottles. I made a little headway, then had about 11 bottles get added in about a week's time. I have two other bottles to pick up from my buddy here shortly - maybe this weekend - that I'm excited about.

All 2019 Booker's in stock and I'll have the boys over for a tasting of each release from this year (did it last year as well). Looking forward to that!
