The dealership certainly could after the determination by Toyota that this is not a warrantable concern. Luckily they are stand up people and want to get to the bottom of this as much as I do.

Toyota however cannot. They are required, under law, to perform diagnosis until they can prove that the concern is not covered under their express warranty due to damage or unreasonable use while in my possession.

I am fairly certain of that, but I need you to pay me to run some diagnostics to be sure. Until then, your claim is denied.

You do realize that most all complaints here at TW eventually come back to the mods made or the actions of the owner. Very seldom does a stock truck mess up. This is fact.

I think that Toyota has made people believe that most complaints here at TW are due to mods or the actions of the owner. I think that if every single person who went through a situation like mine held Toyota accountable you would see a lot more of those complaints being addressed under warranty.

I also think that I have made it pretty clear that I am willing to pay to play but I am not willing to lay down and take it. Thankfully, I have a great dealership and we will get to the bottom of this.

    Random LED question

Why do red LEDs look like the are mounted higher than blue LEDs in a warning light bar, when both colors are mounted at the same height in the bar?

Is it because of the color temperature of the different LEDs?

I WORK AT A DEALER I SEE LOTS OF STOCK VEHICALS THAT MESS UP.....SO NOT A FACT

I THINK AFTER READING THIS WHOLE THING THE OP IS CORRECT AND WARRANTED IN HIS ANGER. THEY JUST BLAIMED THE AM PARTS AND GAVE NO BASIS FOR ACTUALLY CORRECTING THE PROBLEM EVEN AT THE CUSTOMERS DIME. THEY JUST SAID ALL HANDS OFF AND TO KICK ROCKS. HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD JUST WALK AWAY AT THAT POINT.

Exactly. I want to find the root cause of the DRL failures and to repair that root cause. If the diagnosis determines that one of the aftermarket parts on the vehicle is the root cause, I'll repair it. If the diagnosis determines that one of the aftermarket parts is not the root cause, I would expect Toyota to repair it.

The root cause is the fragile nature of the Tacoma electronics, and that the mods are hosing the DRL’s. That’s absolutely clear to me.

Return the truck to stock. Toyota corp isn’t going to do endless diagnosis to determine root cause, nor are they gonna keep on replacing the enclosures with HID bulbs and ballasts connected.

It would be smarter and cheaper to return the truck to stock, trade it or sell it, and get a 2020 pro with the new factory LEDs.

Well, it is not absolutely clear to me. It will be absolutely clear to me if the signal noise on the oscilloscope goes away when all of the mods are unplugged. If the noise is still there then what? Toyota should just throw in the towel even though that was the evidentiary basis for the denial of my claim?

Are you by chance someone from Toyota? If not, I'm not sure how you can make that statement, particularly with the dealership agreeing to perform the additional diagnosis at my cost. Like GBT before you, you are always entitled to your opinion whether I like it or not!
