stock one is light enough to pick up and toss around...I'd guess maybe 20lbs at most?
Nah my Kings have 600# springs on them so they should be fine. Been really stiff until now so if anything they are riding better with that weight. With the bumper on they aren't sagging at all, we'll see after I add the skids and eventually a winch.

My gas mileage is what's going to suffer even more than it already does

Aluminum skids are for people that want to look like they wheel, but don't

I twisted/mangled the back of my 3/16 steel Budbilt skid, if it were aluminum it'd be destroyed

For me it's true, like I said my steel skid would be destroyed if it were aluminum.

Some companies like Aluminess, I thinks it's South American, make most if not all of their stuff outta alunium. Skids in aluminum are great if you really don't want to bash them and need mpg more than you need protection. Like for mall crawlers alunium protection works

Best way to learn is to just start doing it. I did my power window lock and mirror conversion by sitting down with the FSM and labeling every single wire. Then I asked for help on here and got it done.

I doubt mine is as bad as yours but I do need to use a jack for it, fucker is heavy and awkward to do without. But yeah I can't align the middle bolts on it any more, I just do the front 3 and the back 2

I was under the impression that with a little bit more thickness, aluminum was as strong as still but much lighter.

    parently not

It has its purposes. But an aluminum skid thats not like 3/4" thick or more would fold like a pop can.

1/4" aluminium is not equal to 1/4" steel plate. I went for the 1/4" steel plate skid from 4xInnovations.

I can only imagine how heavy a 1/4" steel skid is, damn

Heavy. But bash proof. The trans skid is 3/16 or something, thinner like all the others but still beefy.
