    Clear lake?

Yeah, I should have stayed holed up. Realized it as soon as I dropped in with the kayak and noticed the water level was absurdly high. lol

Hit Quarry Lakes (Fremont) yesterday morning with hopes of landing one of those Lightning Trouts. Water level was WAY down. At least that was according to one of the regulars. Even though I live just a jump away, I haven't fished that place in many years. Quite a few showed up later in the morning but no action at all.

Going to head back to Shadow Cliffs (Livermore) tomorrow. Landed a couple of rainbows last Wednesday. Tomorrow will be the last time out until after the first so still hopeful for one of those Lightning Trout.

My goal is to catch some browns/rainbows that big through the ice this year. We’ll see what happens, but I’ll be happy with any size.

What’s funny is I literally just watched this video again a couple weeks ago.... I usually play it right before season starts to get the blood pumping lol!

I love that guy and his videos though... one of my favorite fishing youtubers forsure. Doesn’t need all the music and ridiculous B-roll shots every 20 seconds.... just a knowledgeable fisherman that still keeps it entertaining every video no matter what he’s fishing for.

Can't be mad about the heavy rain these last couple of weeks (we NEED it), but definitely puts a damper on the fishing vibes. Delta was terrible on Sunday when I went and yesterday afternoon I went to the Russian just to see what it looked like and it was running fast and flooded in most areas. Definitely not fishing-ready for while (especially with the forecast showing more rain into next week). Ended up just playing fetch with my pup and taking off after.

Yep, zeroed out at Shadow Cliffs yesterday. Was hoping for at least a repeat of last week but nothing. Did talk to a regular who apparently fishes it every few days. Was telling me if fishing from the shore, use a 9' rod to really cast out there t(30'+) to really hit the areas where it just drops off. Other than that, it's boat only to access those areas.

He also said the best trout bait for these Lassen Farm plants is a mix of Garlic/Glitter + Green + Chartreuse power baits. He suggested just rolling a mix of the three and working it around the hook then up the line a little like a worm. :notsure:

Going to try his bait suggestion next time out. He must've been doing something right - was the only one i came across who caught the limit. Everyone else nothing but zeroes.

Owning a boat sucks... when you don't have a location to storage it....

A kayak isn’t so bad..they both have their pro’s/cons though.

buddy of mine wants me to head out crab fishing this weekend. I'll stick to freshwater... :puke:

He's also into the kayak scene. Keeps bugging me to go out and get one. After I saw this, PASS - NO, JUST NO.

almost the end of salt water. It’s been a decent year I’ll chase crappie when the bite gets hot. Pics to come!
