+1 on LED reverse lights. For $15, get em. Idk why they don't come stock but I've got them on all our vehicles.

Do Aspies only split hairs when it's convenient for your story?

Sooo which is it? Looks to me like you knowingly ran it and got embarrassed by being caught. The rest of the story sounds like it's simply a justification of it.

You did. Get over it.

I ALWAYS look around for the cops when I intentionally stop at a red left arrow late at night, look both ways, and then go through it like it was a stop sign. My wife hates when I do that. But at least I'm looking for the cops. I know that its not technically correct to do, and hope they'll let me off with a warning if I didn't see the cop watching me. But I do know its a ticket-able offense and wouldn't give anyone any grief because I know its my own dang fault and would only be mad at myself.

I did not RUN a red light; I stopped at a red light, looked both ways, and treated it like a stop sign. I have Aspergers, a form of high-functioning autism, and we Aspies are known for splitting hairs when it comes to this sort of thing.

Unless that red light was blinking, you can't treat it as a stop sign.
I'm sorry that you have to deal with Asperger's, but if you run a red light that's solid red and hit someone, guess who's at fault. Don't split that hair on the road around me or my family.
And sheriff's deputies do have arresting powers and can detain you.

No, running is when you blatantly say fuck it and blow the red light. I stopped and got confused.

I think everybody splits hairs when it’s convenient for them.

I have no problem paying fines. Points are unfair when it’s a relatively minor first time offense.

The cop who wrote the ticket did not witness the violation and was a bully who tried to intimidate me into not taking it to court (which had the exact opposite effect and worked in my favor).

It was I was embarrassed, why would I be sharing it publicly?

The law would disagree with you. Sounds like the LEO cleared up your confusion though!:thumbsup:

I realize they have arresting powers and can detain me, but I’m passed off that he saw the need to embellish the truth. Did I “go through” a red light? Yes.

Is it against the law to do that? Yes.

    Was I wrong? Yes!

Just because I made one mistake and was actually in the wrong, does that mean I have to just pay the ticket, get points on my license, and possibly lose my job? Hell no! I fought the ticket in court and got it reduced, with no points!

I don’t drink and drive, I don’t drive recklessly, and I don’t blatantly disobey the law. I made one mistake that I will never make again, and I wasn’t about to potentially lose my job over points on my license!

So, correction on my LED issue...

    LUYED dome light.jpg
This brand DOES work... KINDA. I have to have the keys in the ignition, actually turned to the accessory position, and it will light up both on the "On" and "Door" position (again, ONLY with the keys half cocked). Bright as all get out and my eyeballs are still hurting 10 minutes later, nearly got a headache.

And this brand below (the 3rd I just went out to try), it works with the KEY OUT BUT... ONLY in the "On" position and NOT the "Door" position. Not as bright as the one above. But it was a 4 pack and came with a surprise nice little stiff plastic trim removal tool, bonus!

    Yorkim dome.jpg

So, I'll just be resolved to use the one above for my dome and know that I'll have to have the key with me and put it half cocked. The other brand I put into the map lights instead.

Yes, did try turning it around. No dice on that. I did NOT try measuring the volatage to the socket when in its varied positions (On and Door). But tell me, my friend, what would be the next step if I find it is reading less voltage... what would I do from there?

Driving through a solid red at any time, not making a right turn, is blatantly disobeying the law though.

I admit I was wrong! I fought the ticket primarily because I didn’t want points on my clean driving record! People fight tickets all the time!

Why am I getting tag-teamed by these two guys who don’t know me and weren’t present when the incident occurred? That’s now right.

Because you're not understanding. Yes, most times you can get charges reduced, but you have to recognize what it was that you ACTUALLY did.
Running a red light is going through one - whether you stopped or not.

I'm glad you were able to get your points removed and just have a fine. Happy ending, silver lining, Coulda been worse. Just move on and learn from it. I've been raped by the system even more mercilessly with actually no fault of my own on a few times over the years. Maddening.

99.999% of the time I do; Haven’t run a red light since. Do you actually think I enjoyed going to court? Dealing with the legal system is always a pain in the ass, even if you’re the plaintiff/victim...

I was once hit by a drunk driver in my Taco and I think the guy got off too easy.

So, what's your line of work Charlie? I imagine that Aspergers can be a real strength for certain fields. You have quite the tenacity! :crapstorm:
