I would trust the manufacture on this. If you put the stage 2 or 3 on there, it will ride very stiff. Keep all the leafs and you could always change it.

Why is everyone so concerned about getting it right the first time? It's always best to take it one step at a time. Great builds take time as well as trial and error. I went with Option 1 for now. If I add weight or want more rake, I can always add the other leafs to make it Option 2 or 3.

I ended up with 4 inches on Option 3. Hopefully things settle down a little bit. I don't mind the look, but I am getting quite a bit of shutter between 5-15 MPH. Tried carrier bolt spacers and shims with no improvement. I will try a slightly shorter carrier bolt spacer and see if it helps. IMG_6834.jpg

How is the ride quality on option 3 on a empty bed? I currently have a empty bed and plan on adding a snugtop camper shell soon. I load up my tacoma about 2 times a year with shooting and camping stuff, and I hate the sag in the rear. I'm trying to decide between option 2 or 3 before I install my leaf pack.

Stiff, but a good stiff - I wish I had went Option 2. I will be towing a trailer across the country and will switch to Option 2 as soon as I am done.

For anyone trying to decide here is my recent experience. I went with Option 1 because I always have an empty bed. Yesterday I picked up a go kart for a buddy of mine for his son's christmas gift that weighted 399lbs (according to the box). We drove about 60 miles back home with it in my bed and my truck rode amazing. BARELY any drop in the rear at 400lbs of load on the bed. This photo is how she sits with a 2.5" lift in the front with Bilstein 6112s at the highest clip setting and Bilstein 5160s in the rear with my old leaf packs loaded on the bed as I left the shop after installation. Hope this helps someone trying to decide. Option 1 if you rarely load more than 400lbs on the bed or tow heavy. Option 2 if you have a camper or a tent and such heavier items and Option 3 if you have a lot of weight such as rear metal bumper, camper, tent and the whole nine yards.

I know this is an older thread but can anyone tell me if the first gen 5160s are compatible with the RXT pack on level one? The newest gen 5160s are rated for 0-1.5" lift.

Try calling Bilstein or Icon themselves. They were both super helpful in helping me choose.

The RXT leaf kits can be used on even a bone stock truck. The only downside is that you wont be tapping into the additional travel available designed in to the leaf unless you use the RXT specific shock.
Since the leafs are designed to not limit up travel, they can be paired with any shock that has a compressed length similar to stock.

I run RXT springs (option 1) with TX Baja rear shocks (rebadged 5160, maybe revalved) and the combo works very nice.

Is it safe to run Option 3 on these shocks with an empty bed? I want to utilize all 2.625" of lift they provide in the rear, or at least 2.5". Or will it require some bump stop spacers? There are different 5160 generations? What are the differences? How can you identify what gen you have? I'm wanting to put my 6112s on the top notch but still maintain some rake in the back. At one notch lower and running stock leafs (overload leafs removed) with Wheelers AAL it looks level right now but I would like to maximize the lift with new leaf packs and I keep coming to Icon RXTs. However, it seems that all the info I've seen is that 5160s are only good for 1.5" lift in the rear, so I don't want to damage anything or compromise the performance of the leafs with the wrong shocks. Would love to keep my 5160s or at least Bilstein but the next line up is the B8 8100 which are very pricey shocks and they also are only good for 1.5" of lift.

Looking for a little advice on this lift I'm planning for my 3rd gen TRD sport.

The lift build I am looking at right now is as follows
Bilstein 6112 with coils in the front
Bilstein 5160 RR in the back
    Icon RXT Leaf Pack
    SPC Adjustable UCA's

Right now I am running stock wheels and tires with no weight in the back.
Eventually I hope to have a bed rack with a RTT and 285/70/R17 tires.

My question is will this lift be enough to accommodate the bigger tires and RTT and does anyone know if bump stop spacers will be required?

I have the same set up with 315/70/17 with a zero offset wheel and I don’t have any issues

Wanted to add my experience here regarding stock shocks with these springs. I have the spring pack on option 2 with fox 2.0 (2-3") shocks in the rear. Ended up having an issue with one of the new rear shocks. I temporarily decided to put the yellow stock trd OR bilstein temporarily back on. I did it under the truck without any jacking. I only had to compress the yellow shock 1.5" to get it in the mount. Obviously I'm not going off-roading while in this condition but a speed bump at the home depot topped out my shock, and it was pretty loud. Shook the whole frame. So basically, with it lifted, I now have 7.5" of down travel and 1.5" of up travel. Definitely not recommended! Anybody know the expected droop of the spring packs on option 2? My floor jack is too short now to be able to lift from the frame to measure this, i guess I could use the hi-lift..
