Without any traffic, it is about 30 minutes from Teterboro to Manhattan. With traffic it could be well over an hour, which is why some take helicopters. There are a hand full of heliports in the city and my rotor head friends tell me that they pay by minute for the time their skids are on the ground. I'm in TEB pretty often and have had passengers step off a helicopter at the FBO to get into my jet, and vice-versa. Same for trips out in the Hamptons.

I’m having an unexpectedly busy couple of days. Today I hit Louisville, Teterboro, and am overnighting in Dulles. On to West Palm Beach, Louisville, and back home tomorrow!

KOAK. Almost reminded me of KJNU but that's a slightly different configuration.

The correct answer is "Justin's favorite runway because it means he gets to go home." But I will also accept KOAK and Runway 30. :plane:

I've asked my dad about what it was like flying 747s and DC-10s into Kai Tak. He said it wasn't that big of a deal.

Yeah, to the untrained and the non-familiar, it seems like a lot bigger deal. A lot of the regular pilots seem to have a "meh" attitude about it. But at night during the monsoon season it apparently got a little hairy.

He came from the prop era flying USAF Connies and C-97s eventually becoming a check airman on several types. Stopped logging hours at 27k. One story he shared was flying 707's in the south pacific, think he landed at Guam in a crazy storm. I guess landing with a severe crab angle exceeding limits is the only way to go when no diversion is available. Wish I could get all the stories but Parkinsons is working it's magic and his memory isn't what it used to be.

That's a shame. Ton of good nostalgia aviation being lost these days. My great uncle was a B-24 crewman (cant remember if pilot or not) and had some stories to tell.

Seeing Breitling drop their support for the Super Connie and it being dismantled for museum duty this past summer made my heart a little heavy.

PADU is still the craziest. I still can't believe Alaska used to fly 737-combis into there.

GEEZ. 3900' runway with like 50-100 feet of threshold before going in the drink.

Beautiful day to come to my happy place. It’s even happier now that I have a vehicle that lives here so I can get around the property

Nice 2nd gen! Just keep an eye on the head gasket and it'll purr all around that property for a long time
