A couple of weeks ago I purchased a set of Wet Okole seat covers for the front seats of my ’07 Tacoma DC off an ad here at Tacomaworld.. The ad said “wet okoles grey and black fronts from 2007 double cab” Sounded perfect. So I purchased them. The seller had purchased them from someone else, and not put them on. I did put them on. This was after I spent two days cleaning them with Wet Suit Shampoo.

The driver’s side fit great, looked good. The passenger side is the wrong size, does not even cover the seat back. Below is a picture of the fit.
Having a bit of problem getting the picture to appear, so please click on the link. The drivers side seat cover is not on, I had removed it to send back to the seller, who I though would take them back since they were not as advertised. I called Wet Okole and asked if the left and right should look the same, they assured me that they should be a mirror image of each other.

I emailed this picture to the seller and asked for my money back. A lot of email back and forth, him trying to tell that this is the proper seat cover. The proper fit. Again I asked for my money back. His reply was

" You can sell them just as I could. It's gonna waste more money to ship back and forth. You didn't ask any questions about fit - and I would have not been able to answer them."

I did not ask any questions about fit, since the ad said they were from a 07 double cab, same as mine.

So now I am supposed to eat the cost of getting the wrong seat covers, with the suggestion I be dishonest and re-sell them to someone else. It appears that this mismatched set of seat covers has been going around until it hit a honest person who won't continue the fraud.

My question to the forum: Any suggestions on how to deal with this problem?

I paid with PayPal. Has anyone ever filed a claim with PayPal? Does it work?

How did you pay for them? If it were credit card you may, and I do mean may, recoup your losses.

Under the doctrine of caveat emptor, the buyer could not recover from the seller for defects on the property that rendered the property unfit for ordinary purposes. The only exception was if the seller actively concealed latent defects or otherwise made material misrepresentations amounting to fraud.

    Best of luck.

    Man that sucks...

I've filed a claim with paypal a few years ago, I honestly don't remember the whole process but it does work and I did get my money back. I think my situation was different than yours though. Its tough to say if paypal would be willing to eat the cost of a used item that simply doesn't fit your application...

Could it be a TRD/non-TRD seat thing?

Looks like SR5 covers being forced onto a TRD seat to me. Seats are different thus covers should be different. The seller likely wasn't aware of the difference, obviously the purchaser didn't either.

    In such a case, blame = 50/50.

A question for the post above: They are for SR5, why does one fit great, and the other too small? One is TRD and the other SR5?

Yeah that could very well be the case. I remember when I picked up a set of (custom made) seat covers the shop made them for the SR5 seats instead of the TRD. I didn't know this until I got them home and tried to install them. I ran into the same probably as you, it no where near fit and would not go down all the way. The bolsters are just way bigger, and the seats are a different shape.

So chances are, you ended up with one SR5 cover and one TRD cover... now the question remains how they even ended up like that? I take it that the colors, piping and logos are exactly the same between the two covers?

The SR5 passenger seat has a plastic tray on the back for when it is 'folded flat.'

Below is an email between my seller, and the guy he purchased them from:

What model truck is yours - I know it's a double cab, but year, TRD or not, etc. might be helpful. Or if you have a receipt or anything from wet okole saying what seats they were built for. I know if it was off eBay you would be able to get your money back but I'm not sure of Paypal's policies outside of eBay. I would call PayPal customer care and find out what they can do.

Interesting . It looks like on the original for sale post, someone actually asked SR5 or TRD seats, to which Chris answered SR5. Not to bust anyone's chop, but the OP dove right on that grenade. I would say he shares some of the responsibility for getting the wrong cover. I would repost them for sale as SR5 covers and take it as a lesson learned. $100 for both front and back would be a hell of a deal and I'm sure someone will take them off your hands.

Stupid Question, did the OP try reversing the seat back covers? Either way, whether or not there are 2 different covers he bought covers identified a SR5 covers for a TRD? Still wouldn't of fit right?

^^Ye, I'm just saying he shouldn't try to sell them to someone else that will just cause more problems. Only person that would be happy with them is someone with two different seats.
