The mileage fluctuation is the lube for how far it goes in.

I had a call like that about 6 months after buying my limited rav. It’s a BS sales technique.

Jesus, with my mileage, I would be in the hole for about the price of a new taco

Since you’re a sales person for Toyota what exactly do you consider a steal?

The rule is thumb is that if you walk out TTL for around the msrp you didn’t get taken.
The farther below that number you get, the better your deal was.
Corporate level employees will get great deals.
But dealerships are franchises and dealer employees get nowhere close to those deals.
Even the highest volume dealers typically will only give their employees invoice price at best.

I don't work for a dealership. But I always find it interesting that so many people get their panties so twisted up over a for-profit buisness....well, making a profit. But only when it's a dealership. I've never seen a person walk into Lowes or Walmart and get pissed because they had to pay for something.

Isn't that the point of every single company/buisness? To turn a profit? For that matter, when you go to work each day do you not expect to be compensated for your effort?

Visiting a dealership to see what they can offer you costs you nothing but a little time. It's funny how so many people act is though the evil dealership can make you do something you don't want to do. It's 100% in your control to decide whether the numbers are satisfactory or not.

And for the record, new vehicle sales don't generate the massive profits that people imagine. That's why dealerships have used car lots, service/parts department and often times body shops too.

Calling an entire group of people "scummy" seems over the top. But this conversation will lead to nothing positive. I'll leave it at that

Wal Mart's prices are accurately posted and not up to how much they can bend you over for it, in fact they run true sales. No funny shell games. "Where did the trade in disappear to".

that is a good rule of thumb but it depends on taxes, Chicago is 9.25% so that is brutal. Basic employee deals are trash, I have seen customers get better deals. I typically give my customers 500 over invoice and then deduct rebates. I work more off of unit bonuses. I always say the best deal is the car you want. If someone sold me a car I hate at a great price I’d be unhappy vs buying what I want and paying for it. :)

That's exactly where they use their familiarity with the forms to play the game though. They wear you out the more you try to keep track. You get a better deal through your bank but they tell you no.

My brother (no cap) was good at it. I could go off the rails saying how evil he WAS.

See, to you that sounds reasonable. I hear, "You pay more for wanting it".

edit: Ya'll are right though, I can't be objective. It's like having the wrong person on a jury.

I can’t blame you, car dealers have a bad rap. But most work off good surveys. Mark up isn’t as high as people think.
