Years ago I had a Union job and worked overnight by myself for a few hours. I got a visit from some union bigwig, he tells me I am making his job difficult because I was getting too much work done and he wanted me to start slacking off. He also told me our meeting never took place and he would deny it ever occurred if I brought it up to anyone. It was like a scene out of a movie and thankfully l left that job shortly thereafter, they ended up replacing my position with 2 workers.

I need to insulate my attic too, there is like 2 inches of some old blow in crap up there, I hate going up there now as it is deteriorated to like a dusty dirt.

No, it just settles down to about 600 RPM and idles rough. Not really rough like it's going to stall or anything and rough may even be a little too harsh for it. It's just that you can feel it idle. Maybe, an "uneven" idle would be a better description.

It seems to not do it as much in the summer when it's hot. I've got a grill cover on it for winter which seems to help but it still idles rough most of the time. I'm thinking that with 195,000+ on it maybe it's time to pull the manifold and go through the IAC, EGR, throttle valve etc., etc. Make sure everything is clean in there.

when I had mine replaced a few years ago, my friends Dad installed it as a side job. He was a professional and said he had a Goodman in his house, his sons house and that’s what he preferred for quality and value and how the larger companies are no better and cost more for the name. My Goodman works great!

The newer ones are much better; 2005-2006 is when Goodman redesigned its air-conditioners and heat pumps. The biggest improvement was using scroll compressors instead of reciprocating ones.

All Goodmans work great, but the pre-2006 models tend to rattle themselves to pieces within a decade. My Grandma’s condo had a 2004 Goodman 10 SEER 3.5-ton heat pump. The thing worked great, but it was incredibly noisy even when it was only 4 years old. The compressor went in 2015 and it was replaced with a Carrier.

Also, Goodman holds the dubious distinction of being connected with John Goodman (NOT the actor). John Goodman is the son of late HVAC company founder Harold Goodman, and he made billions from the sale of the company. John Goodman killed a college student while driving drunk in his Bentley and fled the scene. When the family of the college student tried to sue him, he legally adopted his girlfriend and gave her as much of his money as he could.

John Goodman lives in Florida, and he ran a stop sign and T-boned a Hyundai Sonata. The college student driving the Hyundai survived the initial crash with minor injuries, but the car was flipped upside down into a reservoir and he died from drowning. John Goodman suffered airbag burns and a broken wrist if I remember correctly.

I believe he was sentenced to like ten years in prison and faces permanent revocation of his driver’s license.

Goodman’s Bentley (really just an overpriced Volkswagen in my opinion)...

If this guy still owned Goodman, I would NEVER consider a Goodman HVAC product. Kinda like letting your kids accept candy from a creepy man in a windowless van...

It was surprisingly easy. Had the girlfriend in the garage feeding the machine, while I crawled around the attic. I can say from experience that with creative packing the DCSB can haul 24 bales of cellulose plus the blower.

14 Seer, 48k BTUh, that calculates to 4 ton, right? Sure as hell doesn't act like a 4 ton.

    1800 sq ft house.

Even in Texas that should be enough; Definitely sounds like your insulation. Do you have double-pane windows?
