    Hello Everyone,

I went in to the Toyota dealership because I had to get my tires aligned since I recently got the truck lifted on new tires. I dropped the car off at 11am was told it would most likely not be done until 2pm, didnt get the truck back until 5pm. Halfway through the job the manager came up to me and let me know a sales associate crashed his personal vehicle into the back of my truck. He said that they would be taking care of it with the dealership insurance and that it would all be covered.

They are going to be replacing the back right bumper end along with the taillight and detailing a few scratches. Is there anything I should double check is on point, like panel alignment or something im not accounting for?

    thanks

YOU have the right to take your truck to any auto body shop of your choosing. The dealership of course would like you to use theirs.

Lot porter fell asleep driving and almost totaled the truck I was going to buy the night before I picked it up. SMH. They offered me the 19 Pro for 33k after it would be fixed. I said he’ll no and bought a different one from them. LOL

Most dealers have good in-house body shops as they often have to make paint repairs to brand new vehicles that have arrived damaged from transport. I would stick with the dealer. Best choice IMHO.

they are taking it to a pretty well known body shop that they use for their vehicles in the area. Should i look out for any specific related damage or "fast ones" they might try to pull to make it cheaper or finish quicker? thanks for all the help so far

Maybe look into compensation for depreciated value. If it’s reported to insurance as being involved in an accident, the dealer is likely to reduce the value of your truck if you ever trade it in.

Exact same thing happened to me. Except they crashed another customers car into mine. Was minor cosmetic damage. They took care of on their dime and we never reported anything to insurance. Gave me a brand new tundra with like 6 miles on it to drive for the couple days it took to repair.

Once you get your truck back, inspect it closely. I wasn’t satisfied with the paint job and they re-did it.

Get something in writing just in case.

If you feel they are being sincere and owning up to their mistake, then let them fix it and let it be. IMHO

Sucks, but appears fairly minor....I would see if the shop they are using offers a lifetime warranty on their work.

Minor bump, & they were upfront about it. I see no cause for alarm. If they'd side-swiped it and claimed ignorance, then would be the time to rally up.

Dealer body shops I have used have been pretty damn good at their jobs, but they also charge very high rates. If it was me though, I would just ask for them to write me a check so I could shop aftermarket bumpers

agreed the dealerships have an invested interest in your vehicle being fixed correctly if they want you to trade it back in.

Most are also trained and certified by the mfg how to perform the repairs correctly.

They hit a plastic piece, doubt it transferred to any body panels.. you could fix it in your driveway no worse than they will.

If you feel slighted, ask for free services and you’ll probably get them. Otherwise, try not to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
