youll be fine. the pellet hopper is pretty small, just 5lb capacity so might only run 3-4hrs then refill.

I've always been a Montreal steak seasoning guy but tonight I went with some @bvbull200 unicorn rub and it did not disappoint. Nailed it on dinner tonight.

Big old steak and a can of Vitamin R? That's a splendid evening right there.

I missed the Vitamin R, at least that is what I think it is too.

My favorite commercial in the early 80's when I lived on the "West Coast" of Puget Sound.

Read the pit boss 456 manual last night and they say right in the manual it is only a 2 or at best maybe a 3 season smoker. And looks like it doesn't have a stack but 3 vent holes in the top toward the back. Which is why it needs a cover but those vinyl plastic covers get hard and stiff here in the cold, they crack and don't even make it through a single winter.

Shoveled snow off the deck last night and starting to move some things around. Need to get the blower out and dig the truck out and do the drive yet. Think going to head into town and pick up that pit boss, they sold 2 already this morning and down to 12 in inventory. I must be nuts. Will take a welders blanket felt and some mods to keep it up to temp I'm sure, the real cold hasn't even hit here yet it is still only in the single digits below zero. -9.5° is still single digits below, right? No wind so not so bad though...

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I second this... I mean I wasn't even in the market for a pooper. But at $180 after Lowes CC discount, almost seems like a no brainer :angrygirl:

I read somewhere that the 3 holes in the back is better than having a chimney. Which is why the new weber pellets don’t have chimneys also.

I know you mentioned it goes as high as 500deg and the weber goes 600, but the pit boss has a top plate that slides so you can sear using direct flame/fire. Like my cousin’s rec tec, i hate that you can’t get a direct flame/fire. Streaks just doesn’t taste right.

Might be a 3 season smoker but warranty is 5 yrs so to me it’s a 5yr smoker

I don’t work for pit boss. Lol. Just trying to help a fellow smoker make a good decision

I've gone back to red oak on an Old Country vertical smoker. So I am selling my electric smoker. How much you think this smoker is worth? Going to put it up for sale on the bulletin board at the post office. Used maybe five times. Racks/drain/pans still shiny. What's a good price for it?

Maybe I’ll wait for your review!

Wasn’t even interested in a pellet grill but at that price... I might go check them out after my sons basketball game.

Too kind. Thanks. I think for $170, good customer service with 5yr warranty, you can’t go wrong. Easy cook when you’re too tired or lazy Or too cold to play with charcoal.

Went to Lowe’s to check out the pellet Bbq. None on display but I checked out the other pit boss bbqs.

    They seem well built.
