Custom LED Map and Dome lights

I emailed you about this yesterday as mine are not working as well (front passenger).

 

Blew a fuse trying to install the first time.... fixed fuse... Mine are installed. Work great.

lol however...


my moonroof buttons don’t open the moonroof... instead they turn the new map and dome lights on...same with the traction control button...

up/down ... open/close... all just turn the new lights on...

What have I done ?

Disconnected negative on batt, installed with red (+) wire on drivers side for the maps and dome and successfully installed on 1st try. YMMV.
Bright even during the day, must be crazy bright at nite.

 

Anyone else besides me notice that the dome/maps faintly blink when using the power door locks? Can't see it happen in the daylight, but noticeable at night. Not a big deal, just curious if I'm the only one.

 

Mine blink when I turn my truck on. Wondered about it too... power draw ?

Blink on or blink off? Mine always cut off for a second when the truck is starting, that happened even before the LEDs - I believe that's normal behavior. I'm talking about when the LEDs are off and you hit a power door locks, the LED's very faintly blink on.

 

same problem here, no matter how compressed it will not fit

edit @MESO sent you a pm on the connector for a different reason, too

edit #2 - got it to fit. Prebent the rod just slightly and it fit. Super tight.

This is normal when starting the truck.
As for them blinking when you hit the door locks, this could be a byproduct of LEDS where halogens were. They are much more sensitive to power, whether it’s residual voltage or some type of back feed from another component. I wouldn’t worry too much, I’ve sold thousands of these and working fine

 

I also received the prototype connector today and got it installed. It fits much better and was very easy to install.

Yea, not worried, just an observation.

 

For the dome light on a 2019 it took me several minutes with a razor blade to trim the plastic down so that the one end went to the other. I did not take pics but that solved the issue. Just took a bit of time.

 

@MESO, how are these coming along brother? Really can't wait for the best of both worlds lol. Honestly it's a shame Toyota doesn't let you operate the dome light entirely separate from the map lights; then I'd keep the white dome and red maps.

 

I too buggered up the Festoon spring adapter trying to get mine installed. Luckily I had a bag full of spares from when I bought a bunch of cheap SMD LED panels years ago on ebay. Was able to get it working the second time around. This new design should work much better.

 

Hey Stew. Maybe I missed something but I just went to install the Dome light on my 2019 and it doesn't seem to fit even with this new style. I see in your picture there that it still kind of pushed the terminals on the left side but mine seems like it is really pushing them. Is this normal? I ended up putting the old light back in because I was uncomfortable with how much the terminal moved on the left but if this is normal and it will stay in place, I will reinstall. Please advise and thanks for the great products! (I just install your calv blue chrome delete kit on my truck and it looks great!)

 

Fellas! I finally got around to install the Interior Chrome Delete from Meso! I understand mini mods like these aren’t for everyone, but if you hate chrome then it’s definitely a good option
