I’m thinking about doing the sway bar delete permanently. I commute about 60mi/ day for work total, and mostly on highway but I’ve also started driving like a grandpa for mpg purposes, I’ve got c load tires that are significantly heavier than the previous set before the lift it’s at 58lbs a tire about 18lb more than previous sl bridgestone dueer hts and i dropped about 2mpg i assume just from the additional weight and size. I was thinking when it warms up and i get to go wheeling a bit I’ll take the sway bar off before the trips and reinstall when i get back but I’m wondering if it’s even worth the hassle and just delete it
I’m thinking since i went with the longer springs 887s with the 5100s deleting the sway bar with those springs should still be pretty solid right? Obv a bit more roll but nothing crazy, I’m not pulling any duke brothers moves or anything but i also have to drive at rush hour most of the time and people drive like tards. I’m on the fenced someone push me one way or the other

Try it and see if you like it. :notsure:

Your truck, commute and comfort level may be wholly different than the next guy.

If you're not wheeling a fair bit and need the extra flex, leave it put. But like the last guy said, try it off , you can always put it back on in a snap.

Are there any upgraded end links availavble that would let you disconnect/reconnect and leave bar in place?

I used to do that with my autox ride (on the rear) depending on the type course we were running in a given event.

That extra articulation won’t make that much if a difference for casual wheeling. That’s slow-mo rock crawling territory.

Think if it this way. Go ahead and make changes to your truck once it’s holding you back, after it holds you back, not before. You don’t need skids until you start scraping bottom often. You don’t need a winch if you’re just exploring dirt roads. And you don’t need to delete away bars until that last inch of articulation would have made or broke several trails you attempted and you need to push it to that next level.

Also, they’re not there for your family commute so much as for an emergency evasive maneuver. Would suck to roll or kill someone when you could have evaded. Just my two bits. Do whatever you want. Ha

Not that I am aware of. The way the link is set up doesn't leave much room for a quick disconnect type set up. Unfortunate as the case may be...

That’s a fair point. Thanks for everyone’s input and i had a feelin i was going to go this way and just give it a go and see how it feels I’m curious about the ride difference and if i just keep that in mind on the highway, but i also 100% agree with you in that i don’t need to go outta my way removing shit unless it’s holding me back.

I have personally removed mine with 5100s and 885s. It drives so much smoother. The heavy coils make up for the difference. You wont be disappointed or die.

I’ve run without one on in my 2nd gen with 600# springs. There is body roll but not bad. Anyways I highly recommend leaving it on especially on highways...I’m putting mine back on when I can drive my truck again.
This week almost had a faidle accident on a major highway with my stock 2006 Silverado. If I would of been driving the Tacoma I Deffinalty would have crashed and flipped.

Basically someone on the right shoulder tried to bang a U turn or lost traction (raining) and ended up perpendicular to me on a major highway literally 30 feet in front of me while I was going 75mph. I swerved, did a full 360 on the 2 lane highway and missed the dude. ( guy behind me plowed right into him
) No way the Tacoma would have staid on all four.

My truck has the 885 springs and Nitro shocks and when I got the truck, the swaybar was missing. I could feel the extra roll in the turns so I added the swaybar back with the drop brackets and it feels a lot better on the road and especially in turns. The 887's might be stiff enough to get away with it, but the 885's weren't imo.
