Gone to town / last ride outside of the ranch before New Year.

And shortly before arriving, I pulled out of the mud a 20 tons truck (sorry, no pics; because just after I rescued it, I was worried about the A/T OIL TEMP light; but it didn't last long

I bought a set of DENSO knock off iridiums for my truck from EBAY hard to tell the difference, if the price is too good usually somethings not kosher with them. I watched that youtube vid convinced me they were bogus the ebay seller has since disappeared from overseas.

I just did the Herculiner a week ago so I can't comment on the durability aspect. In fact I just got done putting them on minutes ago. Lol. I did accidentally drop one of them and it didn't chip or deform.

I think you said your steps are chrome, mine were painted. I did Herculine my chrome rear bumper though. It's first coat went on thinner than the steps and I think it was because I didn't sand the chrome good enough. If I did it over I would hit the chrome with a little grinder with a grinding wheel on it. I used a sanding disc on my grinder instead. There was a clump on the bumper that I didn't see until it was cured, I tried to pull the clump off, and it came off showing sanded chrome. I'm positive the clump wasn't there until the second coat. I waited 2 hours between coats, it was raining, and I was in a dimly lit patio by the second coat. It took about 30 hours to fully cure.

There are many videos on YouTube of people saying how happy they are with Herculiner. On all kinds of equipment. I'm considering doing my whole truck but use Raptor bed liner out of a spray gun instead.

That’s good to know, thanks! Yeah, mine are chrome. Sounds like I got some sanding to do! Got them sitting in the garage drying out. Had been hearing a weird “water sloshing around” sound the day before, and found out when I was underneath taking them off that one of them was literally full of water, lol!

Btw, I don't know what your tool/shop setup is but if you spray your steps with DTM primer first and let it cure the Herculiner will stick to them better. DTM is an epoxy primer and once it cures you can spray or brush almost anything on it. It works great for plastic/chromed plastic as well.

    You're welcome.

If you end up using Raptor bed liner it comes with a spray gun. The spray gun it comes with is pretty cheap. If you use a spray gun set up for gel coat it'll come out a lot better. A friend of mine has it on his 4Runner for quite a few years now and it looks killer.

I'll probably end up powdercoating body color like the brushguard but this is an option Ive been thinking of since I saw that truck.

    Good info

thanks! yes, nearly 400hp at 33's is hard to situate. now im closer to very safe hard launches. nothing warms my heart more than a frown from a bmw driver when they catch up.
