After reading TW members comments about the DeeZee bedmat I decided the next time I went by Summit I'd go in and check it out. This past Sunday was the day so I picked one up for $49.95. Here are the details with pictures.

This bedmat comes 6' and you trim it to fit your 5' box.
    Summit Bedmat.jpg

The bedmat comes with a factory scribe... I was expecting a groove to aid cutting but it's just a mark along the wheelwell and cab end of the mat.
    Factory Scribe.jpg

Since I have a 5' box I had to cut it. These are the tools of choice... an old Framing Square & Utility Knife. Cutting it wasn't bad. I had to draw the knife through it a few times using moderate pressure. (Note: the scribe line cuts about 13" off. Just enough to cover the center portion of the tailgate if you need to.)
    Bedmat Cut Tools.jpg Bedmat Cut.jpg

Here's a cross section of the mat. Overall thickness is about 3/8" which is measured from the top ribs and the bottom nubs. Minimal thickness is about 3/16". I believe it to be made of recycled tires as I found a few steel threads throughout.

    Fitment was great!

    And the finished install.

Additional Info: Bedmat weight is appx. 30 lbs @ 6' and 25 lbs @ 5'. I pounded it with a hammer and it left no impression or visual damage. It does have a rubber odor... my bed is exposed to the elements so that's no problem for me. Also, after handling the mat during this whole install I realized I was wearing a white T-shirt with Khaki shorts and expected to have black marks from the mat. To my surprise there were none which is good to know that whatever you put on the mat won't have black transfer marks on it.

Overall I'm pleased with this mat and at nearly half the cost of the Toyota mat... that'll work.

BTW this mat is available online @ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DZZ-86964/ or for a better price http://www.streetsideauto.com/products2.asp?brand=BDSN&partnumber=86964

Thanks! Just the info I was looking for.

Is this the only option, though?

I'm sure there are others to be found. But I'm real cautious of the unknown and what can happen when ordering online. Several TW members have liked the DeeZee mat so based on their thoughts and then being able to put my hands on one @ Summit I bought it. $50 for a bed mat is about the lowest price I've seen. There are some out there for around $40 but... that's venturing into the unknown and that's why I posted this thread. I wanted to remove any doubt for those that are considering the DeeZee mat.

Nice, I need to get one of these. I live about 50 miles from Summit though :( . Next time I'm headed down that way I need to remember to stop in and pick one up.

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
I ordered a DeeZee for my 04 ,its vehicle specific fit where as no cutting required I posted up the deal in the Deals Section here mines $40.75 free shipping from Amazon.com,the cutting the OP did was for what is called a universal fit mat I suspect. You can get a vehicle specific model without cutting mines model #86501 for 74.5inch beds vehicle specific. To check your vehicles model# call DeeZee at 1-800-779-8222 or do a search on your truck at Amazon.com in the Automotive Section double check your part number.

I noticed the 1st gens had vehicle specific but the 2nd gens are 05-up and you have to cut if you have the 5' box.

I just ordered one as well, but I ordered from streetsideauto.com. I ordered it at 11 am on Monday and it was sitting on my step Tuesday afternoon. Summittracing wanted $49.95 plus $17.95 ground shipping to Baltimore and streetside charged $49.95 with $9.95 shipping. The quality and fit are perfect.

I have the same mat as well. Its held up really good for the 10 months i've had it so far.
My only gripe is that I used a chenille wash mitt one time to scrub it. BAD IDEA. There are still little white specks on the mat and they're permanent now. Only use a brush to wash it.

Okay didnt know that:facepalm:Did you guys lay your mats ontop on your hardliner? Thats what I plan to do,cause Ill be gettnig a bike soon and I kinda want it no to get scruffed up slidingaround the bed on the hardliner, think the mat will cushion the movement if I bungie or secure the bike too,I have a hard tonneau that covers the bed and want to keep the bike locked inside and go to my riding spot this way the bikes always with me and secure when I need it. Just checking my shipping tracking left Redmond,WA yesterday should be on the east coast by Oct.4:humble:

hey scott, do you have any pics of the mat in your longbed? I am debating on picking one up as well. also, how hard do you think it would be to cut/drill a hole in the mat? I mounted extra D-rings on the bed bolts and want to have access to them instead of covering them up with the mat. I was hoping a hole saw can be used to make a clean cut over the D-rings

I will get pictures up tomorrow in the daylight. Cutting out for your extra d rings would be no problem with hole saw or utility knife. Pull the trigger you won't be disappointed.
