Glove Box Keyhole

I hesitated to make a thread over such a silly little thing, but has anyone tried blacking out the big ugly key switch on the '16+ glove box handle? I searched but couldn't find anything. It looks cheap and it's really bugging me. I'm thinking about trying to paint/plastidip it or maybe delete the whole thing.

I think I would be more concerned about the guys who want a self driving Tacoma so they can spend their commute time getting their makeup on just right while someone/thing else drives.

OP, I dont have one so I cant say how it is made. However if the lock can be removed from the handle, it would be possible to either find a plug/blank that fits or have one 3d printed. Or, see if Toyota has a part number available for a handle without lock. If you want to keep the lock, start with plastidip to see if the color change is really what you think it is. Or, see if someone can make a reinforced 3d printed cover that has a tab that inserts into the lock just enough to hold it in place.

Someone (perhaps @rrentrop ?) makes a vinyl overlay. If not, I’m sure he would easily add to his blackout kits.

Back when pin on rank was a thing, I used this, which is very durable. Also works good on buttons, snaps etc.

it comes in handy when you need to quickly hide your gun in the truck (if you dont have a gun safe) If you never plan on locking just go for the spray paint option.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I know it's kind of dumb, but it's the one piece of chrome I'm in the interior that really bothers me.
