I see this type of molding clip being used on 4Runners. Could you trim be part of a special trim package that was shared with a 4Runner?

If they are available for a 4Runner, a Toyota parts store should be able to find them for you. NOTE: The part numbers are for a 4Runner.

    could be? its chrome package
i was not expecting these to break, apparently they are supposed to slide around and line up with the holes in the gromments i had to bust out to clean.
well these were not sliding except for the top one.
i guess that 22+ years of NEVER removing them had a ton of sand and mud turned to dirt lol and caked in them
kept them under the faucet to turn muddy and slide them to clean and it snapped
also noticed a few others had fractures on the plastic!

Once you are certain about the part number, then google search on "Toyota 75049-35050". That will usually find a set at a lower cost.

@BartMaster1234 If you ever experience a MAF problem, the ones from that era can be repaired if you are handy with a soldering iron.

I have at least 3 good working MAFs (that I picked up from salvage yards) in my workshop that I keep on hand and rotate around between the two cars that use them whenever I change the air filter. I do that because I don't wan't to be caught without a good working MAF in stock in the event that one should fail.

Causes for break down come from:

    1) The silicone seal around the top cover breaking down and allowing water into the MAF.
    2) The wires from the plug socket to the MAF circuit board work loose and need to be re-soldered.

Here's a video on how to repair Nissan MAF wire connectors.

since POR-15 is not UV resistant and requires a topcoat
what happens should that top coat get chipped and exposed POR-15 lies underneath
UV radiation will hit that exposed spot more than likely and then the peeling and decay starts slowly

Moment of clarity definition is - a time when a person suddenly understands something.
An epiphany is an experience of a sudden and striking realization.

    could be either?

i have not applied any yet and do not have any in my possession to test

but there maybe a few spots underneath that are going to be near impossible to reach and clean properly so I will have to find a different product to use in those spots

Where do you plan on applying it then? If it is to the frame, which I believe it is, when will your frame ever have extended periods where it is exposed to direct sunlight?

sun glare off of the snow and mirror like streets i am thinking for one, the streets here were VERY shiny a couple days this week
assuming that UV radiation bounces around :notsure: like i think it does on ski slopes?
but i am not knowledgeable about that stuff

The chances that that would cause the decay to start after a chip are ridiculously low. You are overly paranoid about this shit. Clean it, paint it, FF it. Rinse and repeat. That's about the best you can do.

Yeah, you could. But do you want a car payment for that long? The only thing better for your truck is to have a winter beater and keep the Taco garaged except for sunny days in the summer.
