This is how Toyota should’ve done the frames from the get go. Oh then 3 hours of clay bar and washing to finish it off.

Looks nice, I want to do something similar with the minor rust I have showing up before applying woolwax.

How did you go about blocking over spray? I'm thinking piece of cardboard to block off things I don't want painted.

I gone the paint route before but I've concluded that it's impossible to do a really through job. You can't get to the top of the frame rails, inside all of those welded on brackets, in between the layers where the steel is doubled up and a bunch of other areas. Plus it's an awful lot of work.

I've since switched to spraying a soft (non hardening) oil based coating using the special wand to insure that all of the internal areas are coated.

When Toyota goes to the unibody platform for all vehicles nobody will have to worry about rusted frames anymore.

I just looked at my post. I didn’t mean it to read that I was claybarring my frame. I spent that time claybarring my truck to remove the over spray. Hell No I wouldn’t care about over spray on the frame.

If you use something like fluid film, then go in for an underbody carwash, will the fluid film be sprayed off and negated?

Dont wash off during the salt months, you'll wash off the protection.

I got the same letter earlier this week except with my vin # I take this as real I’m happy Toyota acknowledges this as a issue and will warranty the frame for 12 years I plan on keeping my taco longer than that.

    None... yet.
Nah, not unless you really go to town with a power washer. Most touchless car washes’ underbody sprays aren’t long or powerful enough to wash much salt off, let alone the Fluid Film. Think about how much slush and spray and road grit you hit the underside of your truck with at highway speeds: a few rinses won’t be what washes the fluid film away.

You should be fine if you go through an underbody rinse or hit it with spray from a low-pressure hose every so often, especially after big storms or when they dump a ton of salt on the roads. That’s what I usually do anyway.

Glad I got out of Kansas, I lived there for one year and they salt roads like mad. I rinsed my truck undercarriage constantly. I’m back living in Florida, so I’ll never have this issue.
