Tucson is far better weather wise than where I was. Could go to Tucson and lose almost 20° off of whatever the valley temp was for the day. I really didn't like the desert Southwest setting at all. Bummed me out everyday, the valley itself is a miserable place. Other than sprinklings of wealth in Scottsdale and the occasional really nice neighborhood it seemed like I was surrounded by people that were at the end of their rope. Like the Phoenix area was just where you ended up when you ran out of options in life. I met some really cool TW members there and some nice people. But it seemed most of my daily interactions we're with people who were just disgruntled or outright angry.

    Same

I can easily transition to TX if I wanted, but I don't see the allure....at least not yet.

Florida ones are pretty badass too. Sometimes it's like doomsday but then 10mins later it's beach paradise again haha

That type of scenario always playing in back of my mind too. Brother is a dentist down there and has an office in Killeen, Bellmead, and Hewitt. We've been talking of me moving down there for years it seems now lol. Always nice to have options, not feel stuck

    Yeah.

Being that I'm recently single, a completely new fresh start is always nice.

It's why I left Chicago after my divorce; been happier ever since.

Except this time its different; this ex and I are really close friends and I do have a new place so it's a slightly smaller fresh start.

If you go to TX let me know

I'll have no friends out there

I couldn't... gets just as hot as socal but with humidity, no thanks lol. And way too much flat, private land. I doubt I'll ever live east of the Rockies.

But everything's bigger in TX, so at least you wouldn't seem so crazy tall

Austin is a great place to go try new foods so that's one thing to look forward to.

Lol I'm 'only' 5'11 but they'd probably consider me short. I usually just say 6' because that extra made up inch garners more acceptance.

I think it would be a cool place to visit. But I'm with @eon_blue I would never move to a flat state with so much damn private land. That's a hard pass, complete stop, definite no-go for me. I need trees and huge mountains, varied weather, backroads that are poorly marked....

I can understand that, one of the many, many reasons I left San Diego! You should have come down to Tucson for a while, it's pretty awesome here and I don't get any of the vibes you are talking about here at all. But I do love the PNW as well. Both my parents live up that way, my dad on Whidbey Island and my mom is in Redmond, OR. I've spent a lot of time up there as a kid and rode thru there a couple years back on a moto tour I did.

    Interesting.

I've lived in Texas for some years but never ventured outside of Austin or Killeen so I was unaware of how 'boring' it'd be for an off-roader.

I think they have 2 (?) big OHV parks...the rest you have to know someone that owns land you can wheel on, which isn't so bad actually if you know people that do, but without mountains I just couldn't do it
