hi everyone of TW, I'm new here so I think is the right place to ask this question.

A couple of days ago I got a 2013 Tacoma PreRunner with the 4.0L V6. One of the first things I did when I got it was look up fuel millage google told me 17/21. I haven't had a chance to drive the truck yet due to the license plate office being closed on the weekends in my area, So I haven't had a chance to test my fuel economy.

I want to know how good or bad is the fuel economy of your tacomas. I know no matter what this inst no Corolla so 30 MPG inst possible lol.

16.5 to 17.5 mpg. 2013 DCLB 4.0 4x4. This is what I mostly see with a mix of hwy and city ( if you can call my small town a city ).

Welcome to T W. Yeah these trucks don't get the best of MPG 's. My 2011 BCSB Prerunner gets about what DownSouth Taco posted. May be one more MPG?! Which I never understood for as light as these trucks are. Sorry buddy !

I guess it would all depend on a few factors
    • Driving style
    • Season/ winter-Summer type of gas
    • Type of gas 87/89/91/93
    • Air temperature
    • Altitude
Have been following gas mileage for over a year now and have data to show....Screen Shot 2019-11-10 at 2.17.25 PM.jpg
I get on average 23 miles to the gallon but right now because of OAT (outside air temp) temperature mileage has follen to about 22 and in the summer over 24 mpg. Graph starts at Jan 2019...

Fairly new 2019 SR Access cab utility, long bed, I4 engine. Mileage listed below based on fill up gallons so some error expected. I’m not good at checking displayed milage on trips. Last 2 mileages based on long trips with Weathertech mud flaps and Tyger side steps added to truck. Odometer Reading recorded at each fill up.

    Shell 89 octane 17.126 gal 341 mi = 19.9 mpg

    Shell 89 octane 16.611 gal 685 mi = 20.7 mpg

    11/21/19 shell 87 octane 17.64 gal 1024 mi = 19.22 mpg

    Shell 89 octane 10.511 gal 1210 mi=186mi/10.511=17.7 mpg

About half of the following long trips were using adaptive cruise control on Interstates at 70 to 77 mph:
    Shell 89 octane 16.911 gal
    1530 mi=320/16.911=18.92

    Wawa 91 octane 15.921 gal
    1863 mi=333/15.921=20.92

Thanks everyone for the quick responses, The gas millage is better than I thought. @davidstacoma It seems to me higher octane gas increases fuel millage, Not by a lot but 1 to 2 extra miles per gallon adds up.

24 plus mpg?????? That is about unheard of. Do you mean kilometer per gallon rather mile per gallon? Are you sure you are converting liters to gallons correctly? I’m not saying I don’t believe you, it’s just that I’ve never heard of anyone getting that kind of mpg in a 6 cylinder Taco?

I have 2008 tacoma 4.0 v6 a/t average all-terrains stock with a canopy. 74k just bought it. Filled up 21 gallons and got about 340 = about 16 mostly all hwy miles. Just put in a k&n filter and got plugs done so i am going to fill up and see if it did anything.

2007 DCSB, 4X4, 4.0 automatic. I have E rated 265/75/16's on it. For normal everyday driving I'm 15-16 mpg. Hwy mileage is in the 19-20 mpg range. I've gotten as much as 23 once on a tank in mountains where I could coast for miles at a time.

LOL...conversion done from Kilometres to Miles...Like I've said MPG & Km per gal can be effected by many factors.

Did you convert from imperial gallons to US gallons on that? I seriously doubt your average would be 24+ in USgals/ mile.
But ...I have got over 27 imp gal / mile ...On the highway...in mine before. That's keeping it under 70 mph and in the summer.
    Winter...no way

For those that don't know, multiply Imp gallons by 5/6 to get US gals...
    Oops sorry that's 6/5....ie 1 Imp gal = 1.2 US gal.
