Totally, 600.00 for an XT Level XC race bike. That’s what I’m looking for. ;). I drank a few beers last night and registered for “Keystone Off Road”. It’s a 55 mile singletrack XC race in June

What do you guys think of a 2020 Trek fuel ex8 as a first FS bike?

    It’s a cool bike that’s for sure! 29” wheels?
You cant go wrong with that bike. My first FS was a 2011 EX8. That thing was a beast even with 26” wheels.

Okay. I have been quietly, in a slight dilemma.
My Fuel EX 29er is the previous generation(guess 2 previous now?).
My Salsa 27.5+ is up to date.
My debate is, its time for upgrade/update. Be it components, or whole machine.
I have been on the fence for Stache or Full Stache for almost a year, and have almost pulled the trigger on a stache 2x.
Is it worth selling my Fuel, and getting getting the FullStache(one semi-local, for sub 3k, new)
    Updating my Fuel?
Or Getting a modern Fuel, or other Fullsquish trail bike?
    Im notoriously indecisive.

I love my stache, I still have my 2014 remedy that I haven’t touched since I got my stache. Depending on your trails, I’d get a stache for cheapish and keep the fuel for longer days or when you want full squish.

Get it!! Not a XC guy, but any ride that get more miles and smiles is a good one.
And most alcohol-based decision aren't always the best ones, but they certainly makes memories (most of the time).

Which option will get you more motivated to ride? Get that one.

I’d jump on that. I’d probably also spend a bunch more money upgrading components!

Yeah... that is kinda the issue.
The Fuel is due for driveline refresh. 1x XTR(2x10 XTR now) plus want to upgrade the 32mm x 120mm fork, to at 34mm x 130 slightly longer fork, and flip the chip, hope it will help slacken the front up.

And based on how much I am adjusting my budget for the Dyna rebuild.... the above is probably what will happen.

Its not a motivation thing. It is time. Work, work work, old house, decent sized yard, work etc.
However, my new van has a reciever, so I am keeping an eye out for a used rack... with the amount of ground I cover, and occasional overnights, etc, it will add to my riding time.

Hear that. Time is always an issue.

went out for a ride today. Winter, full on. Half the trail was unrideable. Still, always fun to get out and pedal.

I feel you haha. Check for sales! I saw the cane creek helm like half off on Jenson USA. Only 27.5 though but I’m sure there are other deals out there right now

Yeah, I have been off and on since mid summer.
Kinda partial to the fox stuff.. BUT... not a deal breaker.
Basically looking at 1k-1.5k for all that, since I will either have to buy the tooling, or have my LBS set it up.

My timberjack is fun, climbs MUCH better, and expands conditions a bit.
Guess I have been lusting after a Full Stache for so long, I am trying to justify it.

But, as of last night, totalling up materials to get the BIG bike running by spring....

Yeah tools add up but at least you have them! I think the only special stuff you would need are for the crown race and star nut. Unless you are changing out the bottom bracket.

I didn’t realize you had a timber jack though. I’d ride a full stache first. The regular stache is super nice but idk how I’d feel if it was bigger/heavier.

I ride a Kona process 111. I swapped it into a 27.5+. Love the bike and it’s dope as hell to ride. I’ve been thinking lately to go back into a hard tail and that chameleon looks pretty cool.

    I’ve been wanting a hardtail too. I’m about 6’2” so I’m after a 29. I’m on a Large or XL pending manufacture. My fatbike is a 27.5... but it’s fat. ;)

Im 6’1” myself. Same thing with me as far as sizing....I definitely would run it at 27.5 and my 2.8’s because I’d swap over all my stuff from my kona. I found a large frame basically new but I want to see how I fit on both a L and a XL.
