    Use a relay and an inline fuse, relay and switch wired to an acc power source. Inline will protect the light. Relay will protect the switch, acc power will prevent constant power.

    *note- the relay protects your switch.

    Don’t make short cuts when it comes to wiring on vehicles or your house. It’s one of those things where saving a few $ or couple minutes can have a disastrous result. Better to take your time, plan it out and do it right. You don’t need the aux fuse box, but you do need an inline fuse and relay (if switched). There are times when the relay can be avoided but it’s specific and dependent on amp and wattage of items involved, so without a clear understanding of vehicle wiring, it’s better to just use one then not.

    I have a wiring harness with relay and inline fuse. I have a new 4 wire switch installed. I have black to black, red to blue and green to white with extra red that I was going to tap to lights so it would be on with lights on. But hooked to battery the switch in lit up without attaching to the fuse for the lights. I would like for it to only be lit when the lights are on. It's all I have left to do.

    Use a wire tap to the fuse box on the drivers side. The cig lighter outlet is a good one to tap for that.

    To me the tiny house thing was crazy. If they would spend a couple of weeks in a camper or better yet a tent before they bought a tiny house, they would say screw that.

    You have any more pics of your tailgate spoiler? I hate grabbing the paint when I lift the tailgate and usually try to lift it by the top cover but it’s awkward. Is the spoiler attached we’ll enough to grab and close the tailgate?

    First thing I did! It’s a window, not a billboard. Huge thumbs up to my dealer for abiding by my request not to put any dealer stickers on, too.

    Stocks still had SOME life left but I am at 40 k miles and they were now 4 years old!
    They look great and I have noticed an MPG hit since this Saturday when I had them put on BUT I don't care.

    I'll try and explain. The new switch I have is ch4x4 (pic posted) I have a typical light bar wiring harness, pic I posted a few post back with inline fuse and relay. The harness has the typical push button switch (pic posted) that I cut to wire to new switch. I have an add as fuse already that I was going to use on the tail light fuse so the new switch would light up when the lights were on. I watched a few videos on how to wire with the 3 wires from the wiring harness to the 4 wires on the new switch. I know I need to add the add a fuse to the 4th wire to the tail light fuse for it to light up when the lights are on. With all of that said, when I attach the wires to the battery the new light switch lights up without the add a fuse being used and attached. I'm assuming that's because I'm wired directly to the battery. Do I need to use another add a fuse to avoid the light on the switch not to be lit up? If so which wire and where to attach it? Is it possibly the blue wire? Now I'm exhausted typing all of this on my phone...lol.

    Sorry I didn’t read it all, the ch4x4 is wired like this (not my pic and can’t remember who to give credit to);

    Red 2 goes to your fuse tap (cig lighter outlet?) and 4 goes to a ground.

    Edit:
    If you want a slightly more complicated install that will allow the switch to dim using the dash cluster adjustment, you would wire it as below.

    That "looks" like an Air Design tailgate spoiler. If so, it mounts with double sided tape.
