@itzyoboipaul thanks for the heads up on the Pit Boss at Lowe's  Well worth it. Played around with it this morning burning off factory oil and measuring temps at different settings.

Got up to 10 above today waited until it got to 4 above to start it. In this cold sucks the pellets down like a cum guzzling gutter slut, once it is insulated think it will help a lot. Temps at the opposite end of the firepot are 50-60° colder, again think once it is insulated that will also help. And experience. Sure not complaining though...

Got some ribeyes for me at Costco yesterday and they happened to have top sirloin cap steak so got a package of them for my son.

    top sirloin cap steak package.jpg

Marinated with Head Country and also dusting of Butcher Country phosphate tenderizer. Started with bacon wrapped cheese stuffed Anaheim peppers. Bacon and cheese stuffed baby portobellos. And twice baked blue cheese stuffed potato half.

    smoke done.jpg

Had no problems getting smoke, but started out low and worked my way up

    smoking sear 530.jpg

Grillgrates from the Jumbo Joe over the firepot worked perfectly for the sear on high

I'm stuffed but planning on doing wings for the game tonight on the kettle with the Vortex.

Chipping away at the ice on the table the grillgrates for the kettle are in there someplace LOL. But think it is nap time first.

It was in the low 40’s when I fired mine up (well, plugged in) but was quite windy. I moved it to a sheltered location. I still maintain the premise of wind is a worse enemy than temps.

Pork chops with spicy meat massage and onions on the Akorn. I’ve got the Akorn up for sell, but after tonight I may just keep it.

Does anyone have a good homemade cornbread recipe? Preferably something I can bake in one of my cast iron skillets?

For a small pellet grill, you sure were able to put a lot of meat in there:thumbsup:

First time trying wings with the unicorn dust. Tossed in buffalo for me and bbq for the wife, plus the required vitamin R to wash them down. I'm impressed, the rub adds a unique flavor for the wings.

Glad to see that Rainier Beer is getting some love on this thread. Drinking one right now!

I prefer the OG rub to the unicorn on my wings if I'm not doing my standard buffalo.

I haven't tried the OG on wings yet, I was hesitant with the amount of brown sugar in it and the temps I get with the vortex. I don't want to end up with a burnt sugar taste.

Now I’ll have a complex about my handwriting.

But yeah, bacon grease is better!
