Toying around with the idea of moving onto a different project, would have to sell my tacoma to do it, with the kinds of mods done to it it would require a niche buyer. Just wondering what other tacoma guys would pay (seeing as Tacoma guys know what to look for in a tacoma)

2005 prerunner trd sport. (Has never hauled ANYTHING, never had a hitch before me and plug in bumper was still installed.)
    213k miles.
    Zero leaks.
Converted to 4x4 with fj cruiser transmission and transfer case with 130k miles. Has 04 4runner front diff. Switch panel on sunglasses holder with 2 light switches and rocker switch for ADD actuator.
Brand new procomp lapaz with brand new 255/75/17s nexen ATs
    Snorkel
    Jba
    5100s x4 885s, ome dakars
    Extended rear brake lines
    Coastal offroad front bumper.
Just had PDR guy go around whole truck. So zero door dings
    Snugtop
    Interior is MINT.
Never been wheeled, nowhere around here to do it, another reason to sell.

So.... is this a FS thread? It certainly feels like one. You can reach really high or post up an OBO, but you'll still need to post up a price.

Great looking truck. Unfortunately nobody appreciates all the work on your vehicle as much as you do. Good luck.

Having recently purchased an 06 OR in the same color and then doing a lot of the mods and maintenance you describe, I would think to the right buyer, this could go for 14-15k at the max. I think if you were to sell a lot of your bolt on stuff separately (topper, bumper) then you might get 12-13k. That sucks because I know you probably have a good bit more in it than that, but that sounds about right to me. I bought mine for 13k needing some deferred upkeep, but have since put maybe 4k into it. Doesnt take much to get upside down on the value.

That’s an awful lot of money and trouble gone into converting to 4x4 and other off-roading mods to have ‘never been wheeled’

12k on a good day, Just looked up some in my area. Found 2 with 80k fewer miles very clean for 12-13k. Imo the conversion is more issue than the cost to do it. The buyer has to consider was it done right, if they aren’t a diy’er now it has parts on it that weren’t even made for that truck etc.

    Thats
So what's the point of your post? To say I'm a liar and that the truck is abused daily? Or that maybe my personal life doesnt allow me to use the truck like I wanted to when I started building it?

"Thats" is not a word, "That's" is a contraction of "that is". Not trying to sound like a dick, but you posted a question and then got defensive about the answers you were receiving.

Very nice truck BTW, the modifications look well done. I've given up on trying to figure out what older Tacoma's will sell for these days, but I think what gotoman1969 said is probably pretty close. Hard for people to justify buying other peoples projects for what they may be worth. Good luck.

Your post is structured like a for sale ad and you’ve asked us to view it from the position of a prospective buyer. If I were a prospective buyer of a 15 year old truck with lots of off-road mods, particularly something like the 4x4 diy conversion, my eyebrow would be raised when I read things like ‘never been wheeled’ and ‘never hauled anything’ Not saying you’re lying, but there are people who would insist on these things and/or cover up things just to make a sale. If it hasn’t been wheeled, great, good luck with the sale and your future project.

I’d be skeptical of the 4x4 conversion. I’d be way more comfortable buying a factory 4x4 truck. I don’t think I’d go near that truck unless it was super cheap. No offense, it looks good. But it’s not hard to find a factory 4x4 and buying a converted pre runner has a lot of risk that can easily be avoided by purchasing a factory 4x4.

    Same crap everyone else got
You have an 05 which some may worry about the 05's head gasket. Mileage isn't exactly low so even more worry about the HG. DIY 4x4 conversion is going to a plus only for the right price. Like posted above, plenty of factory 4x4 tacoma's out there. You have quality modifications in parts but those only go so far in resale value. Most of the time if the parts are in good condition, you usually get 50% of the value added to the price minus labor, and again this is assuming you find the right buyer that cares about those mods. If you want the most return for your vehicle, you should part it out and then well it as a stock 4x4 converted tacoma.
    Just my .02.

I could see more reasons to pass than buy....IMHO.

05 with miles like that, most won't care about the conversion, so 9K is top dollar.

The OP will have to find some other guy who has low self esteem and validates his manlyness through his toys. Next time, I suggest spending the money on a gym membership, or therapist instead

edit: Your work is garbage. I am to please. You're welcome.

I'll be doing the same thing to my PreRunner and losing my ass if I ever sell it - and I know it.
