Ah Okay guess I'll have to talk to them then and ask options, but kind of let them know I don't want the repairs rn versus the money to do them.

Yeah on a taco, yeah Dorman works for a handle. That's about it though.....

I lie. Back when I first got it I had EGR stuff going on. I did the Chinese Dorman EGR modulator. But thats a part that doesn't move much and only routes air. That's my excuse :anonymous:

TBH it keeps me from worrying about dmg cause it already has some. My last truck got its rear bumper replaced from a fender bender, and within the first month of having it a kid slammed into it riding his bike and I was back to square one.

Never been in that exact scenario. But I'd imagine their insurance will have an adjuster come look at the damage, assess it, and then usually when they're looking it over with me I'd let them know what I'm hoping to do plans wise regarding the repair. They've cut checks for me in the multiple times being hit

what do you think about replacement windshields?
that had to be aftermarket because price was $400 or $500 difference iirc

Do you have any oil on the filter itself? Whoever changed the oil may not have tightened the filter completely. With your hand only, grasp the filter base and see if you can give it a 1/4 turn. If it turns, it was loose.

Had that happen back before I started doing my own maintenance. Damn filter was loose and was leaking, big time. Had oil all over the underside all the way back to the rear diff. :censored:.

You could also check around the oil drain plug. Pull the skid plate off and see what you can see. When tightening the skid plate bolts, be careful not to over tighten, they strip easily.

    Edit:
Looking at your pics, I'm voting filter either loose or too tight.

HMMM guess I'll wait for them to contact me and start the process. I'll try to BS and say I prefer to do it myself because I've had bad experiences in the past or something. Hope the tech from discount didn't get fired, but no clue why he'd get the balls to try out a stick shift for the first time at his job with some one else's truck lol

My windows are still untinted but I need my insurance to change my front windshield before tinting due to a fat rock chip coming back from camping. Scared to replace it bc I keep hearing rocks smack me everyday on the freeway smh

Some people prefer and pay the extra for the OEM windshield. For them it is worth it. It's a personal decision, it's up to buyer.
I, and others, have found PGW glass to be a suitable consistent good quality windshield replacement for oem glass. Pilkington also makes quality glass, generally speaking and I would be okay using one made by them as well.

Just this weekend my truck started making this really weird subtle (but very noticeable) grinding/whirring noise from the engine/behind the dash after a cold start up. The sound increases/decreases with RPMs but is not related to wheel speed (I can recreate it in neutral at a stop light).

Happened all day Friday then stopped over the weekend...got into my truck this AM for work and it was back. Maybe my truck just hates weekdays, IDK

Since I'm driving it ~800 miles round trip starting next weekend I need to look into this methinks. No codes or anything else odd going on. Runs just fine aside from the odd sound

Wondering if the big mud/water pits from a couple weeks ago have something to do with it

Ive had one loosen up on my 3rz. I think its the flat gaskets on the cheapo filters that dont tighten up well. Ive used an oem filter with an actual o-ring ever since with no issues.

Yep, I've switched back to OEM filters as well. Last time I had an order in with Gunny, added a 1/2 case of those things.

Sounds like a pulley, or belt, but I'd check pulleys. Checked pulleys or tensioners yet? Or putting together a plan of what to check?
You can even try removing the belts one at a time to isolate which belts/pulleys are making noise. Or the long screwdriver/wooden dowel deal for transferring sound

Dowel is a good idea, I was going to pick up a stethoscope tool to try and isolate it but I'll try that first. I was thinking it might be the belts especially after dunking a good portion of the front end in muddy water a couple weeks ago going through those water crossings

Tried that once but my truck is so loud in general you can't really make it out on the video lol. I'll try it again tomorrow morning when it's loudest on first start in the colder temps
