70K for a Tacoma... HaHaHa… Ok... That is laughable.

    No.. Just no....

Make an offer for $38K, maybe $40K, tops.

Thats about $33k that you’re paying for in mods...do you really need/want them all? What if you change your mind on the tent and want another style? What if you preffer the other bumper and its gonna bug you for ever? Did I say that its $33k in mods?

It’s a nice truck but its a lot of money, especially to finance and lose so be careful. You said yourself you’re gonna lose on your current truck, in addition you’ll lose on this one too. Now add on interest to boot which is also a loss, I doubt it’s going to be a low rate.

Keep your current truck IMO and pay it off. If you have a 3rd gen you already have a nice truck. Put the 10s of thousands difference into something else like a house, retirement or something you’ll need down the road.

    Appraisal came in at $89k

I'm a cynic by nature, but I don't believe that for one second.

But, your money, your truck, ultimately you live with your decision.

You're "looking for opinions" - so I'll give mine, but in reality I have no dog in this fight and ultimately, it is YOUR decision. The truck is nice, very nice and seems to be what you want. I'm assuming is not what you need, and it is not a good investment. I'd say keep the truck you have and do modest mods - as you have the disposable income to do so. I'd spend the cash you are going to put down, and pay towards your current loan. I'd prefer to put money to work for you - land is always good if you research correctly, it will NOT depreciate. Will Rogers said (about land): "...they aint making anymore of it." Some of the biggest (financial) mistakes I've made in life were around vehicles (outside of women...but the vehicle decisions involved getting more women). I made the mistakes in much younger days, and I regret it....but then again I made those mistakes and I enjoyed myself - I'm suggesting you do something I did not do. I applaud you for seeking advice - it certainly means you think more than I did. Please ask folks that care about you...advice is free for a reason. Good luck.

I wish I had enough money to even consider buying a 70k vehicle. I've made some bad life choices apparently.

You'd have to be REALLY into overlanding and/or looking the part to shell out that kind of dough IMO. No thanks.

Personally, I'd rather just buy a bone stock OR tacoma and with the money left over get a cool little A-liner trailer and take some road trips. That to me is where it's at. ...Being able to go camping comfortably, and when you're done, detaching the trailer and having a normal truck to drive around in. With these overland rigs you're stuck with all that crap on your truck whereever you go, or its a pain to remove/install everything whenever you go out. I don't get the whole thing, but that's just me.

    Good luck though

Definitely a really nice truck. I would pass on it since there is no bed mat or seat covers:rofl:jk. I guess it depends on whether you enjoy working on your truck and can do the major of these mods on your own over time while still paying off your current loan. You can tailor your own truck to fit your needs and maybe save some cash in the process and not be knee deep in debt. On the flip side having it all done is appealing but you will pay a premium for that service plus you might find some of the mods you don't need or are pricey to maintain. I know I can do most of the things I want on my truck but will eventually need to either invest in tools and get some help to finish whats on my list or seek out a shop to install the things I just don't have the time or tools to do or might royally screw up and cost me more down the road. It's your money but you might want to list our the pros and cons on this decision before pulling the trigger on it.

Didn't have time to read the listing so I'll just say you ought to consider: What are the miles on it? How much has it been wheeled?

If its a brand new truck with brand new parts then maybe the price is justified.

My 0.02 - if that thing has been wheeled a bunch then there's just no way I'm going to pay that kind of money. At the MINIMUM, I'd pay someone to inspect the hell out of EVERYTHING for me to make sure that it hasn't taken that much abuse.

Wait, it was traded in with 228 miles on it? Maybe the original owner realized how absurd the whole '$70K Taco to camp in the woods' idea is, and bailed!

Um the company selling the truck put all the mods on it, they most likely took it in as a trade for high 20s and then modded it.

Considering it has under 300 miles I would guess that it hasn't been wheeled much at all. Pretty much a new truck with minimal driving.

Beautiful truck but the issue with purchasing a vehicle already modded is you have to live with the mods on it. If they are all mods you want/need and can accept the price then go for it. It is a really nice truck that could be alot of fun.

A good rule of thumb is to never finance mods through an auto loan.
