New suspension goodies should be here this week for install when its not winter in 2020. I've done more maintenance, but havent really kept track of it on here. But, i did complete some modifications worth mentioning.

had this shipped out and repaired so now it works. Its weird, hasnt worked since i bought it, so its very weird seeing something displayed now.

Bought some universal $20 seat covers off Amazon to help protect some wear and tear on the seats. fitment isnt perfect, but for $20 i'm not complaining.

And lastly, anyone know where in the parts breakdowns misc. engine brackets are found? I want to start replacing these rusted up ones with some new ones.

So....what a fiasco this weekend was. My upper ball joints were shot and calipers seized, again.. yesterday i started off super early and started wrenching. Changed out the rotors, calipers, and pads relatively quickly. I had to torch the one caliper bolt to get it to break loose, but that was the only hiccup with that. Instead of replacing the balljoints, i just bought moog upper control arms. The driver's side went pretty smoothly, the passenger side really fought me. mostly due to rusty bolts, but i also didn't have a pair of channel locks quite large enough to grab all of the metal i needed to bend. But, after about an hour, i got it replaced. Gold, all i have left to do is bleed the brakes. It was all downhill from here. The passenger side bleeder got all boogered up on the way out. so, i run to the parts store to find a replacement. I grab a couple that seem to work. the first one fit perfect, but fluid kept pumping out. I tried the other one, and it fit, but not as well. so i proceed to tighten it up so i can bleed the brakes...it suddenly goes loose. it stripped out the wheel cylinder threads. UGH. So, i run to the parts store again and buy a new cylinder. I go to remove the brake line from the old cylinder and the fitting actually loosened pretty easily. Found out why...it snapped the brake line. Awesome...i called it quits here. The other end of the brake line looked really rusted and crapped up and i didnt want to spend another day fighting it. So, for the first time in my ownership of 4 years, the truck left my house on a flat bed.

Also, found out it wont pass inspection...I found a large rust hole in the body of the truck under the cab. So, i'll be testing out my new welder when the truck comes back. Also, i have some pictures from the engine i need to share. Trying to identify what i'm leaking. What a fun freakin weekend....

they have a how to showing how to do it yourself, but i've never soldered anything to a board before so i decided to let them handle it.

Nothing quite like 4 new tires, the truck feels new again. 4 new tires and alignment at 130,500 miles. (more record keeping than an update).

It’s literally on there with double sided tape. I replaced my Leer third brake light last year because a few diodes were out.

Thanks for confirming, that's what it looked like to me. I plan on fixing up some scratches and cracks in this cap next year and then paint matching it. So i'll replace that light at that point.

Ugh, i've been trying to monitor this but it has definitely gotten beyond the basic repair I was hoping for. The fender flare is now floating up in this corner, which means all of that metal is gone. I'm not sure how i'm going to create a patch for this, this is a pretty complicated shape. Once I get my teg road legal, i plan on taking the truck off the road to fix this, paint match my cap, and replace a number of rusted engine pulleys etc...

I fixed an exhaust leak this weekend and checked on this spot again. I don't think this area is worth fixing, the support is rusted into two pieces, most of the metal is compromised... as long as it passes inspection, i won't do anything and keep looking for a new to me bed or bedsides. Ugh...

I have a lot of catching up to do, I've been slacking with keeping up my maintenance stuff.

I had to replace my UCA's again because the ball joints failed after 13K miles. I also lifted the front with the 5100s by moving the clip from the stock setting to the first notch.

I installed an OEM roof rack. Will get one for the cap as soon as I paint match it this year.

I FINALLY replaced all of my idler pullies because of the horrific noises they were making.

Last fall before it turned cold, I paint matched a bumper I had intended to replace on the truck a while ago. I will be replacing this and the hitch this year.

I wetsanded and buffed the following weekend. It turned out OK for a driveway job, but luckily its just a bumper. Its job is to get smacked up lol.

    I also bought a camper.

I changed the oil with Mobil 1 high mileage synthetic yesterday, still motoring along with 155K on it the odometer. I'll do another drain and refill of the tranny fluid this year, along with the diffs and transfer case. I have a few other odds and ends I'd like to button up on the car, paint matching the cap is on the to do list and painting the new bedsides. I plan on swapping out all of that stuff this year.

Well, got some noises to investigate this weekend. The truck has had a knock in the steering or suspension for years now. No one can seem to track it down. But, its gotten noticeably worse over the last few days and the truck just feels a lot "looser" in general. So I'm going to crawl under the truck this weekend and double check some of the bolts to make sure they are in fact torqued correctly and see if I can find anything noticeably wrong.

Truck is at the mechanic, waiting for parts. So, i'm borrowing my dad's truck. I have to say, I'm not hating it. He bought it off an 85 year old man 3 years ago, so its fully decked out old man style lol.

more updates and record keeping for myself. doing a bunch of maintenance and upgrades prior to taking the old girl on a road trip to the smokey mountains.

This has nothing to do with how she runs, but i like the look. i dipped my scs wheels nardo grey.

just recently got 4 new tires, plan to do a drain and fill on the transmission again, will check the torque on the bolts of parts just recently changed, i have some misc. wiring to do, and will do an oil change before i go. i also hope to get the cap back on the truck before we leave. i painted it to match (some issues were encountered....) but at the end of the day, its a $300 paint matched cap lol.

i also had the hard trans lines going to the cooler replaced at the dealership. i was not about to try to get those off without breaking anything while laying flat on my back in my driveway. Yes it was expensive, but now i know its fine for the trip.

scenic type picture as i was leaving the dealership (the building is about 8 feet behind me in this picture lol).

    current odometer reading 165,000

Well....Not all fantastic updates. Cap is paint matched, i've re-run my wires to my switches so its not a jumbled mess of wiring.

The cap matches mostly well, once i knock down the orange peel a bit and the texture is similar to the truck, i bet it will match even better.

ran wires through the grommit under the drivers seat for my reverse camera and found not so good metal. The previous owner of the truck had the truck ziebarted at some point in its life. I attempted to remove as much as i could, but that stuff was really caked on there. Well, the damage has been done. I will need to replace a section of floor about 8 inches by 8 inches in the spring. I'm keeping a close eye on another spot as well.

Also found a small hole that i'll need to repair in the rear rocker section as well. yuck.

good news updates! The taco is still quite the trooper. Packed up the family and the golden retreiver and left for Gatlinburg last Friday morning. 600 miles down, countless times up and down the mountain roads, probably 100 miles or so driving around down there, and 600 miles back. Not one complaint or one issue, the truck just ate up the miles like it was nothing. Turned 167,000 miles on the return trip home.

    truck at the cabin.

    Doggo posing.

upcoming work (besides the body work) is to finish wiring my heated seat electronics and install the 2012-2015 lower dash section, trans drain and fill, and change out differential and transfer case fluids.

Quick update, the truck is still running like a dream. As soon as my acura is out of the garage, i'm going to prep and paint the new bedsides. Also on the to do list this month is fix the rust holes in my rocker and floor, along with a bunch of maintenance (trans fluid change, front diff, TC, rear diff, grease ujoints, and change spark plugs).

Took the truck camping up to Presque Isle last week with the fam, it was a really great time. In no particular order:

If you are not the original owner of your truck, and you find that the original owner applied rubberized undercoating to the truck, remove it immediately. IMMEDIATELY.
