    Like, so many.
Bro, that's a very, very expensive truck. The good thing about building your own is that you can upgrade or mod as your finances allow. But I do know there are people, maybe you, who make much more money than me and that might not be a consideration.

I’ll just speak to the money thing. You owe way too much on your 2019 ACLB to eat this payment. If you owed a lot less, it would mean you had that cash to spend on a $70k truck. Otherwise, you would have put that money toward paying down your principal. (I’m assuming you are not some stock market wizard that just needs liquid capital to play with....)

Also, I’d you really wanted a DCSB, why did you get an ACLB this year?!

Keep yours a build it. Everything about that Tacoma is bolt on. There’s nothing that is custom or special that you couldn’t do to yours. The best part of owning a Tacoma is the build process. And who knows, you may decide you don’t need half of the things that Tacoma has and save yourself some money

We are getting into the weeds here, but I just had to say that this is some of the worst advice a person could listen to right now. We are in the largest real estate bubble in the history of the world. Land ABSOLUTELY does "depreciate," and that is what it is going to do in the future. Buying right now at the pinnacle peak is for fools. Let me share some first hand knowledge about land: I bought 4 acres from a bank in 2012. They had been holding it for close to 7 years, having foreclosed on the previous buyer (borrower), who had paid $135,000. How much did I end up paying for the land? $24,000. Land values had absolutely plummeted by the time I came around, more than 80% in this instance.

My thoughts on a rig like this:

You'd better really plan on using it -- a lot -- as it is built, because that's gonna suck as a DD. Clumsy, slow, a gas pig, and a target for thieves. Don't leave those gas tanks on the back when you run to Walmart.

If you ARE going to use a rig like that a lot you better be a pretty self-sufficient guy. I wouldn't want to be 4 hours into the woods only to have something break. If you don't have the skills and patience to build something like that in your garage, I bet you're going to be pretty frustrated field-repairing a broken universal or whatever out in the cold, with a bare minimum of tools, when it's cold, raining or whatever. The side of a trail isn't the place to get to know your mods. And let's hope your GF is patient.

And finally, some of that gear is cools stuff but do you really need ALL of it? Before you take your rolling Hampton Inn out into the boonies, have you ever thought that maybe camping simply -- with a lot less gear and a lot less weight -- might be quite a bit more enjoyable?

How many people with a snorkel are actually fjording with their truck? Does the OP really need that mod? Most of the snorkels I've seen are at Starbucks in Seattle, not out in the woods/etc.

He probably knows he's going to have to move a bit on the price, but right now people are going into debt up to their eyeballs, so I will not be surprised to see it sell.

    Huh. /shrug

Ought to be pretty easy (albeit time consuming) to do some homework and decide if the markup is worth not having to pick up a wrench, wait for parts, and install yourself. Heck it isn't even hard to source labor costs either to have a shop do it. Call the nearest 4WP and ask what it generally costs for stuff and factor that in.

I'd never be able to pony up enough for this in one fell swoop, but if I could I would probably make a spreadsheet to determine whether or not its a worthwhile purchase.

I'd also make absolutely damn sure that everything is warrantied. If it is, that could equal some significant added value.

Man. That’s a pretty truck. I have a similar setup, and I won’t part with it.

They don’t, actually. Check KBB’s best resale value list. Some darn fangled foreign truck is at the top :D
