A fading memory for you is what you had for breakfast.
To "E"? No. I don't think he did.

I've worked in the funeral industry.

The poll above actually leads to a "it depends".

Funerals are a huge waste of money. Caskets are marked up into the 1000's of percent.
Funeral services are nothing more than a gathering that costs 10k.

However, there are some legal topics that a licensed funeral director will take care of that are valuable.

For me, it will be direct cremation, no casket. No burial.

Service to be held around a camp fire, booze to be consumed, someone needs to call me an asshole one last time.

hog roast, with jokes made about it not really being the hog, its Pulled Q.

For some families, it does provide some closure. For some families, seeing the body at the calling/wake is therapeutic. For some families, the religious tradition of a burial is so deeply ingrained, they know no other way.

Can confirm that wind and pools sucks. Especially when when trees and near and you get 60+ MPH winds.

We have an electric cover on ours, and there are still sticks and leaves and shit in it when we open it every spring.

My dad took the direct cremation route. It was definitely the best way for us.
